Don't really know how much this affects womens' rights, but it's a victory for the moral police nontheless.

Procedure banned.

*sigh*

What those assholes in Congress didn't realize is that a D & X (the medical, non-pro-lifer name for the procedure) is done when the mother's health is in danger. It is VERY VERY VERY VERY rarely done simply because the mother doesn't want the baby.

So, if I'm having a baby, and then I find out that I might die from this pregnancy and it's after the second trimester, can I get away with this by saying I'm defending myself from being murdered by my baby?

(Joking)

This just annoys me to no end. Women are going to die because of this. Bush is a fuckhead, and I can't WAIT for next year's election.

You know a good chunk of people in this country won't be happy until it's illegal.

And then we can go back to getting our abortions on strangers' kitchen tables and dying from infection a week later.

I don't mean to sound like a staunch pro-lifer here (I'm not), but don't you think partial birth abortions are a bit too brutal?

Question that might sound ignorant, but I honestly don't know.

I assume they're inducing labor. If the fetus is partly delivered without harm to the mother before it is aborted, why can't it just be delivered completely as a premature birth? I mean, obviously if it's in the 4th month, it probably won't survive, but in the 5th or 6th it might have a chance, and in the third trimester, probably a pretty damn good chance. So I'm confused as to what the health reasons are that would make this necessary.

That said, I'm not a fan of abortions but I'm definitely pro-choice.

Sometimes the baby has developed a life threaening condition or the mother has become so ill from a pregnancy related disease like toxemia(eclampsia) or other disease or condition that to continue the pregnancy could cause her death. In cases like that, a choice is made. I believe that the threshold (the age where the child is considered mature enough for a chance at survival) is somewhere between 24 and 26 weeks in most cases.
Now, I don't know about other parts of the country, but D&E (partial-birth) is the only procedure done after 14 weeks around here. That's only 3 1/2 months along...not very long to make a decision, especially if you didn't realize you were pregnant right away.
I wouldn't want to do it, but what are a bunch of uptight old white men doing deciding what the females of this country should be doing with their own bodies? I have given birth to four children (btw, I am poolahbear's female, not him), and it is no walk in the park.

Well, being pro-choice means I believe that the mother's life and well-being (physical and mental) is always more important than that of a fetus. So it wouldn't be very logical of me to not like ONE procedure because it seems "brutal", would it?

In short answer, no.

the MEN making up these fucking retarded laws will never be the ones that they are applied to.

"their" women will be flown to another country if they need a banned procedure, as they were before abortion was legal~ as many of our current "leaders" had done in the past.

(remember with idiots like this their gawd tells them not to use condoms or birth control either, so it was very common they had to get rid of the evidence of their immoral fucking)

the final argument against lawmakers and this anti-abortion tripe:

GUYS~! have a problem with abortions? THEN DON"T HAVE ANY!!!!!!

they might as well try to outlaw periods.

any more in this direction i might have to become an abortionist.

thinking John Irving had a book about a doctor doing that while it was illegal.

You know, if Jesus hadn't risen from the dead he would be rolling over in his grave right about now.

"Too many people have lied in the name of Christ for anyone to heed the call,
"Too many people had died in the name of Christ that I can't believe at all!"
(Crosby Stills and Nash, Winchester Cathedral)

The thing is, as ludicrous as this sounds, it might be something that becomes a reality. Forget about precedent (sp?) forget about justice. There's no room for any of that here, not now...

"1984, your right!"
(Serial Killer, Hackers)

Thing is, you used to have to win elections by getting votes...
Thing is, you used to have to take care of the people who voted you into power, not the people who paid your advertising...
Thing is, nothing is sure anymore, and unless we all think crossing our fingers or denouncing this latest affront on our fellow man (read: Women) is gonna get the job done we better mobilize. Protest, let them know with our voices, cause who knows who will be counting the balots at the end, hanging chad to hanging judge to hangings in Mississippi just like the old days... I'm terrified!

"And maybe they'll come for the Unionists,
"And maybe they'll come for the Jews,
"And maybe they'll come for the heretics...
"But they'll never come for you!
"When you hear the steps in the hallway
"When you taste the iron fear
"Don't you go cryin' out for Justice
"'Cause there's no one left to hear!"
(Fred Small, Face at the Window)

God, I'm so scared

DISCLAIMER: STAUNCH "PRO-LIFER". IF THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS OFFEND YOU, THEY WERE MEANT TO.

Disgusting. I can't believe that people are actually here defending half delivering a child...a HUMAN LIFE...and literally sucking their brains out. I am sick to my stomach for all of humanity right now. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, it just saddens me that some of those opinions are the reason that unborn children are being murdered.

*PREPARES FOR THE WRATH THAT WILL RAIN UPON MY HEAD FOLLOWING THIS STATEMENT*

Everyone should move to Canada.
We have health care, gay marriage, legal mary jane, and the US to watch our asses for us.

And if everyone moves up, I'll throw a big shaker at my place smile

Yeah, because dilation and extraction abortions (or what the prolife groups call "partial birth", which is not a medical term) are SO much less "icky" than other abortion precedures.

Again, I am pro-choice. I will not deny that a fetus is a living thing. However, I think the life of the mother is always more important than the life of the fetus. Therefore if someone decides to have an abortion, I really don't care how it's done. I don't any procedure is "cruel", either.

Um, yeah because no one ever said that abortion in general wasn't disgusting and vile. And I am pro-life. So, I feel that no matter what the situation, a person should not be able to "choose" whether or not to kill and have it be legal because you call it by another name. I consider murder, by any means, cruel.
