And a fucking race war is comin' down with it...

My douchey boss suddenly decided he wants to have Fox "News" on at work, on every fucking TV set during working hours (it used to be "just old country music", but now this Gawd awful shit?) Why, for the love of God, oh why!!! ...

Why do I bring it up? From the spin and coverage over the last two days (over Democratic primary election woes, killer cop acquittals, and Rodney King x 3), it looks like they are drooling for a race war to erupt just before the election. I really think this will be the Republican strategy to divide Americans along racial lines by creating enough tension to trigger violent outbursts among the Mexican American, African American and European American (white) communities. As an added bonus, Pres. Bush might even be able to issue orders for martial law, effectively nullifying, canceling or possibly even rigging the election... And who knows how much trouble he can cause 'round the world while the nation isn't looking. He just might give the go on operation Barbara Ann (that's bomb Iran for the McCainally challenged... Damn, did I just coin a new word?!?).

If inciting a race war doesn't work, then they also have a plan "B". They've been subliminally and not so subtly drumming in associations and analogies linking RFK and JFK to Obama... They also never fail to mention the word assassination either sometime before or after mentioning him. Sure the possibility exists, but why do they always seem to leave it hanging out there as if it were a silent option. It makes me sick to see the commentary and spin going on (and Fox isn't the only media outlet guilty of doing this). Whey will they ever stop, is there no way to find balance within the force? Does this crap go on everyday?

Perhaps I'm just unsettled from the past two days of being bombarded with a continuous stream of B.S. and have started to become paranoid about things. I guess this is the way the fear machine works, but I'm on the flip-side of the coin.

Sigh. If this keeps up any further my, boss is either going to go out of business by scaring away customers or by losing some employees... (its a Bike Shop for Chrissakes, not the Boot Barn or a feed store. Talk about alienating your clientele). whatever

Shit, sorry for the rant/thread hijack. I really should leave it for the journal, but I can't bring myself to change my last post.

I can't wait for there to be a real rational discussion about the real drug problem that's been plaguing America for over 30 years... The Drug War. Enforcement doesn't work, it's been nothing but a sham. Treatment of abuse, health education and legalization should be the priorities, but I don't think it will ever happen as long as the political status quo prevails... frown Damn, Tommy Chong needs him some serious redemption... Man.

Dude, they totally violated his First Amendment right to sell bongs!

Shh, they're supposed to be called "water pipes", for smoking "tobacco". wink No body sells bongs or marijuana pipes in America, that would be "illegal". You know, there's something wrong with this country when you can buy a shotgun at almost any sporting goods store, but you're not allowed a shotgun bong anywhere.

Cool shot on the "Urine Luck" product in the vid by the way. (The "anatomical dispenser" makes a great gag gift at a white elephant exchange, preferably at a work party). biggrin

Hell, might as well give the man a free plug. He just can't seem to win in court. It guess it's kind of like having an Austin Power "it's not my bag, baby" defense every time you go before a judge.

(Will this get me flagged?)

Absolutely true, but that has fuck-all to do with the cost of tea in China. whatever
I fail to see the point in your comment. (Did you think I was trying to make a connection between 1st and 2nd Amendment rights?)

Witless banter aside, I thought his 1st Amendment rights were being violated by preventing him from selling the movie (by attempting to gag freedom of speech and bind freedom of press). What would his arrest for selling bongs, er, paraphernalia have to do with the 1st Amendment? Please, by all means, enlighten me!

You're right. I thought he was referring to his initial incarceration when he claimed his first amendment rights had been violated and I was responding to the absurdity of that allegation, but it is painfully apparent upon your pointing it out that he was referring to the confiscation of his movie and any point I might have been trying to make crumbles under the weight of my foolish assumption.. I'm afraid witless banter is about all I'm good for at the moment, so I leave the field to worthier men.

I wonder if we could hold a citizen congress to decide on stupid things for conservatives to get worried about that wouldn't drive the rest of us nuts or incarcerate us for bullshit reasons.

Maybe prisons shouldn't be a fucking profit system, too.

I *think* without any research and citation, that it's a federal law that no felon can make a profit off a book of his life story. People have written books about Charles Manson, interviewed Charles Manson and Charles Manson may have assisted in writing the book, but none of the profit went to him.

O.J. would have been allowed to author and release
IF I DID IT because he was never convicted of the crime.

I can see the purpose of the laws for serial killers, serial rapists, mass murders and other people that would profit off the deaths/injuries of people they committed the crime against. That is technically wrong.

But Tommy Chong? Gimme an effin' break. Tommy Chong's only "crime" in reality is being a figure head for millions of pot smokers. Crime is in quotes because the government thinks it's a crime, not i. The Feds are simply trying to make an example of him, to show that if you choose to use marijuana and be related to it, you're going to have legal trouble.

Whatta-fucking-waste-of-time.

I don't even smoke, I am pretty anti-drug, I advocate sobriety, and even i don't think he deserves to be treated like this. Plz spend my tax dollars on something more useful. k.thx.bye!

You are correct! After researching it a little bit, it just seems to be a very touchy subject, which is understandable and any felon that writes about his history usually ends up in civil court, not criminal court.

Yeah, so like, he's the Poster Child for drugs, you know... It's kind of funny, the Feds may be trying to make an example out of him, but all they've managed to do is help Tommy garner support and sympathy. Furthermore, it highlights how corrupt the government had become under the Bush administration. The raid that targeted Chong was orchestrated by a Bush appointee with a history of politically motivated prosecutions. Tommy Chong never hurt anybody, was operating a business that employed several stoners, er workers, and helped support the local economies as well as providing a source of revenue to the state and the federal government. So how do they pay him back? By fining and jailing him in a multi-million dollar bust operation, funding provided by Joe & Jane taxpayer...
