An odd day of compromise . . . maybe

Listening to NPR this morning, I caught several instances of calming and compromise in some of the more troubled areas of the world.

Nutjob Sadr called for his militias to lay down their arms and stop their battles in Iraq.

Israel and Palestine are pretending, at least, to play nice and are talking about prisoner exchanges and removing roadblocks.

China invites journalists to Tibet to try to boost their image. That wasn't the story I was thinking of, but I couldn't find the one where China was asking the Dalai Lama to help end the uprisings . . . as if he has been doing anything else.

I don't know how any of these will turn out, but either everyone is trying to set everyone else up for a fall, or there might actually be some hope out there in the world today.

Easy. It's time for soccer football. Time to put the guns up and flock to the TV.

Last I heard, China was still blaming the Dalai Lama for the uprisings, calling the violence "inhuman" and claiming that it was "organised, premeditated and masterminded by the Dalai clique."

I don't know about the other stories you posted, but I don't see any reason for optimism so far as Tibet goes.

Yeah, I'm not sure on that one either. It was a 3 second soundbyte and I couldn't even find the followup online story on NPR. But I know that I think I heard it.

Meanwhile, Ron Paul's head just fucking exploded.

See, people didn't believe me that my girlfriend carrying my child was the beginning of the end of days. The apocalypse is coming people.

Zombie-pocalypse? Mad Max apocalypse? Giant Ants apocalypse? I guess what I'm asking is . . . will I need leather pants?

You should always have leather pants, just in case ya know? If you don't have them, a nice pair of chaps works just as well.
