I really hope those people who voted for Bush are feeling a huge stone of guilt in their stomachs right about now.

As anyone who wasn't living in a cave knows, waterboarding is the Mediæval method of torture, perfected by the Spanish Inquisition, and now used, on occasion, by the CIA to interrogate prisoners. In an effort to not be assholes, the US Congress passed legislation that would ban the use of waterboarding.

Bush, in typical fashion, vetoed this bill.

"The bill Congress sent me would take away one of the most valuable tools in the war on terror," Bush said in his weekly radio address taped for broadcast Saturday. "So today I vetoed it," Bush said.

Asshole.

coyotemike hopes to see Bush at The Hague in 2009.

And when he says it's an important tool in gathering information, he thinks they are promising it as a reward for giving up info tongue

Exactly! I am sure he just can't understand why everyone is getting so mad at the CIA for offering to take people to the beach for some fun in the sun, if they would just give us the info we need to fight terrorists. biggrin

This could be truer than we think. We're talking about the man who didn't realize gas was heading towards $4/gallon.

His family's in the fucking OIL BUISINESS!!! You'd think he'd at least try to keep up with this, so he knows how big of a ranch he can get in South America when he makes a run for it in January.

My last post on water boarding with links.

New material on water boarding. Eric Lomax recounts being water boarded during WWII - for some reason he thinks water boarding is torture. He is not an American so we can and should ignore him, right?

No I am going to go with Bush is a idiot who's actions and decisions will have damaged the reputation and standing of the United States before the world.

Bush's words and policies have made it impossible for us, for at least the short term, to criticize the abuse of our service men and women when it will be done or the abuse of other people in the world by their own leaders. Yeah we have become the moral equivalents of the right-wing South American dictatorships of the 1970s - please see Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay.

no. Bush's chuckle isn't sinister enough yet. It sounds more like an Elmer Fudd laugh, once he gets the sinister laugh down pat, then, yes.

So let's see...

Bush has vetoed: Stem Cell Research Enhancement (x2), U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations, Children's Health Insurance (x2), the Water Resources Development Act (the only veto to be overrode by Congress), and waterboarding. Way to go Georgie...

Did I miss anything like the ban on throwing puppies off cliffs?

I'm almost beginning to think his actions are a part of some plot to ensure no Bush can ever even consider approaching the White House again. Almost like an "if I make enough total douchebag moves, nobody with the name Bush could ever run for any high ranking office, and whoever follows me up will just reverse my decisions anyway." My only question is: who's in charge of the machines that are running his brain? I hope it's somebody semi-intelligent.

I am waiting for the spin that Bush will put on that one.

I think "Well, the puppy had information we needed....." will actually fall out of his mouth.
