alea iacta est

At 8:21 this morning, I cast my vote for Obama (Rhode Island).

A couple interesting observations I've made. The first is that I've seen a bunch of Obama ads on TV. They seem to be all over the place. I can't think of one by Clinton (they could have been some earlier I just got back in town on the first). Apparently Clinton doesn't think Rhode Island is important, which is understandable. It's small, we won't have a huge impact, but when your talking about differences in delegates near 100 our 30 some odd delegates could be a tipping point. Anyway, her presence here isn't felt (by me), and apparently Obama rocked a large audience at the University of Rhode Island the other day. The polls apparently indicate Obama will take both Vermont and Rhode Island, which would reflect my experience here.

Today should prove to be exciting.

Obama für der König, für der Sieg!

When do the polls open in each state, today?

7-7 in Tx with the Caucus starting at 7:15. Thats right, for some reason i can vote twice today. I don't get it and i saw someone on cnn try and explain the backwards ass way my state is doing things and he was at a loss for words.

I don't get it either. Caucuses in general seem a bit anachronistic.

Yeah. That's the way I understood it. I was just saying that not everyone gets up as early as you.

Haha, I woke up at 630 and was ready to go, but I figured if I got up too early I wouldn't be able to stay up tonight to watch the results come in, so I slept in another hour.

I haven't seen many Clinton ads on tv but my polling place was pretty much wallpapered with her signs and supporters. I've seen a lot of polls that project her taking RI handily, but everyone I know who is voting is voting for Obama.

Caucuses are a blast, it's great to debate and discuss who's the better candidate and sway people to your side. I get to caucus when the playing field is a little bit wider(Iowa) though, which is nice.

Yeah, mine too, sort of. There was one large Clinton sign out front and a lone lady standing by herself with a sign. There were no Obama signs. I don't think that really means much though. I live in an area that seems to have a lot of old people. I was by far the youngest one there and I'm almost 30. I did go really early in the morning, that could have had something to do with it.

I was pretty much talking about TV and radio. 99% of the ads in those mediums were for Obama. As per the polls you saw, I always assumed RI would go to Clinton because of Whitehouse among other things, but we've seen two things in this primary season: 1) traditional wisdom means jack and 2) so does polling.

Vermont (15), 7 p.m. ET

Ohio (141), 7:30 p.m. ET

Rhode Island (21) 9 p.m. ET

Texas (193) 9 p.m. ET, but El Paso is in a different time zone, so closes an hour later. And, to make things extra complicated, the caucuses begin after the polls close.

Obama's going to take Vermont today (no doubts there). Rhode Island... I'm thinking his extra campaigning and advertising will net him the majority there too. Texas? Unless some shenanigans go down, he should win. Ohio... Well, it'll be close. He may not win, but I don't think it's going to be a decisive victory for Clinton if Obama loses, just a few percentage points difference at best. Those are my predictions anyways. We shall see. Id be happy to see Obama trounce Clinton today, very happy indeed. smile

Newsweek: Hillary's Math Problem: Forget tonight. She could win 16 straight and still lose.

Tonight could be a knockout blow against Clinton, but even if she beats expectations, she should be ruled out by TKO.

[x] Obama

[x] anyone but Dennis Kucinich (for my congressional representative)

Anyone else in Ohio notice the fucking enormous step backwards we took in voting procedures? It was electronic voting last time, now it's a paper ballot in which you have to "color in the circles", no hanging chads at least.

Enormous step backward? The electronic machines you're implying were a step forward were declared unreliable and susceptible to tampering by your Secretary of State.

I voted provisionally so I expected to fill in circles.

In related news I am ecstatic at how punctual the Board of Elections was with my change-of-address. whatever
