It must be really hard being a total asshole. Seems like a lot of work with all the lying and being an all around dick. Take Eugene Evans. HeÂ’s a retired high school teacher and has been a Sea Scout leader for 35 years. Apparently the Sea Scouts are like the Boy Scouts, but they hang out on the ocean in an attempt to make the whole thing gayer.

In 1998, Eugene sued the City of Berkeley because the city had challenged the Boy ScoutÂ’s ban on gay members.

The case went all the way to the Supreme Court and Eugene lost. Only gay Sea Scout boats will be allowed to dock rent-free in Berkeley. (At least that is how I read it.) Evans was obviously crushed. No longer would the SSS Farallon be allowed to drop anchor in Berkeley.

But he was apparently still able to fuck boys on his boat.

As a parent, I would imagine this is when you start to freak out a bit. If you had a boy who was or is a Sea Scout and spends a lot of time alone with Evans, you would be scared shitless about your child and hope the kids he molested get the help they need. The best thing to do is to take a step back, assess the situation, and let the court do its thing, right?

Wow, almost more creepy that the molestation charges. And that has to make those molested kids feel AWESOME. So, basically what everyone here is saying is that four boys made up the stuff about Evans fucking them. His supporters already know he is innocent, which is great. I expect them all to let Eugene baby sit, to pick up some extra dough now that he is out of a job. He's clearly not odd.

It is definitely more disturbing that there are parents and their children supporting this fucker! What he might have done is downright disgusting. He deserves to be sent to prison so he can be molested in the fashion he allegedly molested those boys. I know, innocent until proven guilty, but it scares me that these parents aren't even considering what the allegedly molested children are saying.

God I hate saying allegedly before everything but even I can't condemn him until its shown whether or not he did molest those boys. But I sure as shit wouldn't be in his corner rooting for him. I wouldn't let him near my kids due to the allegations alone.

Oddly though, if this does turn out the boys just cried wolf, they ruined a persons life, period.

Apparently the guy lived for Sea Scouts, and being that most of his supporters are a part of that community, I don't really think that your point there is valid. I mean, one of the dads put his house on the line for this guy.

True, but you have to think whether or not the Sea Scouts will take him back. With an accusation like this, its almost a guaranteed no, just because he will be around children again and the possibility of another accusation cropping up is almost a certainty.

you forget, the real job of the media is to entertain, not really produce news. Them actually providing real unbiased news would be a far fetched idealogical way of thinking.

First of all, the fact there are Sea Scouts in the first place is amusing? What are they when they reach top rank? Sea Men? Are the "Cub Scout"-level ones called Swallows?

Second, on a more serious note, I wonder how many people already condemning the guy did the same for the Duke lacrosse players. That's what the court system's for, folks.

Having been falsely accussed of sexual assault (my ex-claimed I assaulted her as a tactic in our custody battle), I know it sucks and people assume you're guilty until you can prove your innocence, which is very difficult to do. Fortunately, I had phone records that showed she was 2,000 miles away on the date she claimed I had attacked her (my birthday). Still, some people treat me differently.

All told though, my situation was bad, but it can't compare to having been molested. That can cause problems forever.

In the UK only 12% of sexual assault cases get reported. Only something like 3% of those get a successful conviction. These statistics may be a bit out of date, but... either the court system in its present state is not suited to adequately dole out justice for sexual offences and in particular the burden of proof for the prosecution is too high making it easy for the defence to introduce sufficient doubt for an aquittal... or theres a whoooole lot of people making shit up. hmm?

considering that these statistics are produced by charitable oragnisations providing services like post rape counselling and anonymous phonelines, by which stage the victims are not trying to prove anything or ruin anyones life, ill go with the former.

my point being that if the apple of the american common law system hasnt fallen far from the tree of the british one (i only have first hand experiance of the latter), whatever the otcome of the trial in this case, no one can really be sure what did or did not happen. if he is convicted, the boys might have been lying but its unlikely they could pull such convincing and irrefutable stories out of somewhere his cock has never been.

if he gets off (in the legal sense), these kids might have put themselves through hell and for nothing, because one of them stuttered or didnt sound sure enough under cross examination.

For scaring the shit out of sexual assault victims.
