Obviously, as a non-Californian this is easy for me to say, byt this taking Bush v. Gore seriously is beautiful. Either the Supreme Court upholds to 9th Circuit and allows state courts to equlaize vote-coutning systems between counties--which would make the system more just *and* be a huge benefit for Democrats--or for the Supreme Court to admit that Bush v. Gore was the completely unprincipled and lawless decision that it obviously was. Either way, it's great. (I'm also going to enjoy wingnuts criticzing the "activism" of the 9th Circuit.)
How many signatures do you need for a recall? 1 million? something like that?
I was thinking about getting another recall going ASAP after this one. Some of my friends are down for the idea as well. They need to get this one over with so we can begin the next one.
I wish there was a way to recall the brain-dead 9th Circuit Court. Everytime one of their asinine activist rulings makes the news, it's one outrage after another.
This is just par for the course for one of our political parties. If the rules go against them, they just change the fucking rules through the courts with the help of activist judges. They're invalidating thousands of voters' ballots and superceding CA's own constitution. Can you imagine the shit storm if the GOP pulled this? Jesse Jackson et al would be marching, calling the GOP racist, chanting "make every vote count" and claim the GOP was usurping democracy and we were marching towards a fascist police state. When Democrats do it, it's called justice. Makes me fucking sick.
Who cares anyway. CA deserves Gray Davis, recall shouldn't have happened anyway.

I, for one, would be happy to see CA and its politicians leave, so as not to contaminate the rest of the country. I'm sure a lot of people in CA feel the same way about the rest of the US.

agreed. we should start a party.
If California secedes, what will happen to all those Delaware Corporations who happen to have the majority of their staff and headquarters in California?

They'll magically become international corporations. Don't worry, it's a mark of prestige.
Now, if this is really the broad populist movement it appears to be, then nobody should have any complaints that everyone who votes has their vote counted. Naturally, the complaining comes from Republicans who have no interest in everyone having their votes counted. The outdated punch voting machines that are faulty, leading to ballots being thrown out, are found in poorer precincts, where the Republican party isn't too popular. Have we forgotten Florida in 2000 so quickly?
