Don't know if this has been posted, if so, i apologize. I searched.

This is a neato little quiz-thing that calculates who you should vote for in the 2008 elections based on your opinion on hot topic issues. You choose your stance on the topic, how high a priority it is for you, and then voila, results.

The good thing about this is if you are unread or confused about a certain topic, you can click the topic and it takes you to a page laying out the basic "jist" of it and both sides of the argument.

The one Zarth posted a while back was much more comprehensive and therefore better (no disrespect meant to you DarkBlueMarcy). I'd repost it, but I don't remember the name of it. How useless am I?

I'm pretty sure he thinks it's a bad idea to vote based on how a website tells you. There are other factors beyond "agree", "disagree."

oh, gotcha. my bad. i was shown this last night and thought that it was interesting. i remember taking the one Zarth posted as well. i liked this because it was simple and hit on big main issues that most people are familiar with. and it doesn't take too long to do.

i mean, OBVIOUSLY there are other things that go into picking a candidate to vote for. but it's interesting to see how they align.

Once again, I get Kucinich as my top choice. My next top three were:

2. Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel (D) - 85.58%
3. Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) - 75.96%
4. Delaware Senator Joseph Biden (D) - 75.00%

Too bad for Kucinich, the American Presidential election process prefers style over policy.

oh. well, yeah. i thought it would be assumed that some more research would be necessary to make your ultimate decision. i suppose i'm never quite clear enough with the posts i make here.

for a second i though he was referring to the military website and was confused.

Not changing importance...

Gravel 96% (Weeeee...)
Kucinich 86%
Obama
Biden

Is it just me or was that Net Neutrality issue really random? I have this weird feeling that the whole thing is some sort of data polling for that issue. It just seemed really out of place or is there something I'm missing??

i agree. and on the quiz it showed it as internet neutrality and then took you to the link for net neutrality and i was a bit confused if there was a difference. i honestly wasn't sure what the ins and outs of it was. it was the one issue i had "unsure" for.

What the hell. Lots of Kucinich.

Dennis Kucinich (D) 57.81% match
Christopher Dodd (D) - 55.47%
Joseph Biden (D) - 53.91%
Hillary Clinton (D) - 51.56%
Ron Paul (R) - 50.78%
Duncan Hunter (R) - 49.22%
Rudy Giuliani (R) - 48.44%
Barack Obama (D) - 47.66%

I'm not surprised, I reeeeaaaally don't fit the goals of either of the parties.

Pretty cool little site, if used only for bringing up candidates you might otherwise not researched.

Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo (R) - 16.00%
California Representative Duncan Hunter (R) - 8.00%
Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson (R) - 8.00%

Huh. I don't think I'd vote for Kucinich if I were American, but there you go.

The biggest problem with this is that it doesn't account for character or trustworthiness.

Not just that, but when they say a candidate agrees with me on abortion or gay marriage or the war in Iraq, which statement of the candidate are they basing it on? Some folks have, y'know, flip-flopped a little from time to time.

Not really that helpful, because I don't think I want Kucinich as President even if he had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the primaries, much less the election. Then again, I'm not a registered party member, so it's not going to matter anyway. They'll field whoever they field, and I'll vote Democrat because there's not a Republican candidate born that I'd want running the country or my state right now. (Possibly ever.)
