I'm lost

There is some pretty horrible shit going on in Iran. Take a seat because it is startling. Former president Mohammad Khatami is still very popular with liberal voters. He was Iran’s first and so far, only reformist President. But now Khatami is a disgrace because he has been going around shaking women’s hands.

You read that right. He is a creepy bastard. In a recent visit to Italy, Khatami was video taped shaking hands with a woman who was not wearing a head-covering.

That is hard to watch. He just reaches out and touches his hand to her hand. Neither is wearing a glove. Moments like this are difficult, especially when you have such respect for a leader. It is like having the rug ripped out from under you. Khatami, of course, says the video is not real.

Mr Khatami, a mid-ranking cleric, dismissed the photo as a fake and insisted he had not shaken hands with any of the women who had approached him after he made a speech.

Yet, Khatami tried to calm things down by announcing that he will not run in the 2009 presidential election.

"That was a message to the right wing, the government and the regime saying, please don't try to destroy me - I don't want to disturb you any more," said Saeed Leylaz, a pro-reformist analyst.

It didn’t work. The fundamentalists want blood. Clerics from Qom have started a petition asking for Khatami to be defrocked and flyers condemning him are being circulated. I have to admit, they might not be wrong. According to the clerics, when Khatami was in Italy,

he sat next to the uncovered body of a female reporter in a very obscene way.

Holy shit. If I am reading that correctly, there was a nude reporter sitting next to him and he had his legs spread wide open with his junk pushing up against his pants. That is fucked up. Khamati is out of control and now other videos are popping up. Check out this hand to shoulder action.

What a fucking animal. Why not just finger her in front of everybody? Now I have no choice but to support current president Ahmadinejad. He is a good, conservative man with morals.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been accused of indecency after he publicly embraced and kissed on the hand an elderly woman who used to be his schoolteacher.

FUCK! My whole world is falling apart. At least the old broad had gloves on, but it is still horrible to see. It is forbidden for a man to have physical contact with a woman, unless they are related!

This type of indecency progressively has grave consequences, like violating religious and sacred values.

No shit. I feel like I will never find a politician who represents my values. I guess I will have to look to some third party idiot in 2009.

Gore has two vowels and Kerry has two syllables and two vowels. I don't blame him. I probably didn't even type that right.

Did you see how awkward that shoulder-grab was? The man obviously knew he was doing something wrong and went ahead and did it anyway. I have no sympathy for that type of hardened criminal.

It was a misunderstanding. We were ripped off. The previous administration gave us oral sex. This time, we wanted bush. We didn't know it was actually a dude's name. What we got is actually about an inch and a half away from the bush. It stinks, I tell ya!

i understand their culture is different...but in italy, if im correct, its more advanced than that, and if he hadnt have shaken the womens hands, wouldnt he have seemed rude/ sexist? i know in america, its customary to shake hands with a speaker after they give a speech...and anyways...can he actually choose who he sits by? sometimes they do have seating arrangements and things like that...i dont understand why theyre so hard on him about those...i can understand the others...like his teacher, because shes from the same culture...so of course he would be expected to act accordingly...but...i mean, last time i checked, if i go to iran, they expect me to be covered...cause im female...so how can they expect him to go to other countries and not follow the customs there?

whatever

It's different.. in America shaking someone's hand is about respect. Other places the show of respect is different. I can understand. It's like Bush pissing on a baby. I doubt we would look up to him after that. Ha. biggrin
Ya..but if he was in America or France or where ever he should respect those citizens accordingly as well. Just like if Bush went to Afganastan he wouldn't shake hands with the woman out of respect for their culture.

I'm not a big fan of this article and the reason being is that while I normally appreciate sarcasm, I think we should be talking about the fact that the Bush administration is heavily gearing up for a war with Iran if that happens Iraq is obligated to attack us and we are starting World War III. I am fucking serious. This is exactly ho Hitler lead up to the invasion of Poland.

those fellas must have very high level charisma if they expect to find a gal that would let them put a baby inside them without ever having even touched them first.

it's comforting to me that the religious nuts run their show too. it's all even-steven.

I'm not sure if even Bush is that stupid. It seems like we won't have the resources to become entrenched in another country in the Middle East unless a draft is instituted. And if that happens, I think that we are going to see much trouble at home.

that a segment of culture developed like that isn't all that strange -- but that they progressed up to the dark ages then just stopped dead? now that's fucked up.

it's like they picked the most fucked up time period possible and went "ok, stoning people to death is pretty cool. let's just stick with this."
