Vick Takes Plea Deal

I was just watching this break on ESPN. It looks like they're trying to do massive damage control.

"blah, blah, Vick apologizes, blah, blah, blah, wants to take responsibility for this."

I'm hoping his career is over also, but it looks like they're expecting him to play again after his time in jail.

Good fucking luck. He was running a gambling operation and then he lied to the NFL when they questioned him.

In Vick's defense I'd like to say....

What really cracks me up is the whole "Martin said that Vick accepted full responsibility for his actions and decided over the weekend to accept the plea deal." and the "He'd like to apologize" bullshit. He isn't sorry, and the only reason he's taking responsibility is because he got caught.

I hope he gets a lifetime ban from the NFL. He is and has always been a punk. He is the type of person that makes the NFL look bad and no way deserves to ever have the chance to play again and make the millions he was making. His brother was a punk too. I would have loved seeing him get 5 years in prison instead of this plea shit but what can you do. He'll probably end up writing a book about it all now....

Not to kick a man while he's already on his knees (though we'd all love to), Vick's apology is a tad backhanded:

While he's pretty much given up fighting this on a legal front, if he does attempt reinstatement in the NFL, I would expect this line of reasoning to sprout up again.

Ironically, a lot of good is coming out of this. Dogfighting is being seen as the blight on society it really is, and not as something shady but rare, only practiced by petty thugs. Courts taking such a hard line stance on animal cruelty, not to mention criminal charges being brought upon a celebrity, is refreshing too. Not only that, The Atlanta Humane Society got a bunch of extra laundry!

Hey I just had a thought. Maybe some of the good that may come from this is that new rap videos will pull away from showing some dumb thug holding 4 pit bulls on chains.

And oh yeah, working pizza delivery I've seen lots and lots of dogs that are obviously just there as macho status symbols. It's disgusting.

To have such success and still want to be so sadistic, as to arrange and bet on the death of living things reveals Vick is not right on a fundamental level.

Unless the Falcons can recover an awful lot of his signing bonus, he will exit prison a rich man. Not that he'll end up that way, as he seems to make some rather stupid choices in order to maintain some sort of 'thug image'. I wonder how animal cruelty ever got equated with being 'tough'.

Actually, I would expect nothing less than a lifetime ban he broke the NFLs Gambling rule. Granted it wasn't betting on games but it did involve gambling in general plus when you involve something as dispicable as dogfighting to this he deserves to be banned,jailed and then smothered in Alpo and to then have pit bulls siced on him.

He is an embarassment to the NFL, The Atlanta Falcons Organization and to himself.
