I know most of the people here, like myself so many times, avoid reading any really long comments, or mentally commiting to anythingthing that will take longer than two mintues. So before you click the link you should know that this movie is over an hour long and will fuck your mind.
I've been educated on this topic for years by my "crazy conspiracy believing father", but like many of you will find, I couldn't for the sake of my own peace of mind accept any of it. A big part of me still wants to pretend that I don't know anything about this.

I watched portions of it.

Basically it's about how people in power manipulate the masses (Multinational Media Networks guide us by the nose, Politicians engineer a crisis to suit their purposes- like Pearl Harbor or September 11th) and shows a lot of damning evidence of big business doing horribly unscrupulous things... all in the attempt to make a one-world Government.

Most of this stuff is quite factual, but frankly this NWO crap doesn't really have me convinced. People are selfish, cowardly and mean, but they don't usually work very well in tandem. So I agree the world is fucked, but there's no NWO being built by Bush, Putin, Brown, Murdoch, Gates et al.

So yeah, it's not really worth watching if you're politically aware.

So here, have some Soma, and wash it down with Victory Gin.

There are two fundamental flaws I see in conspiracy theories in general.

The first is that history, and simple observation, is enough to show you that humans are simply not that well-organized.

The second is that if these people were really that powerful, why the fuck would they need to keep their actions secret? That doesn't make any kind of sense at all.

Conspiracy theories likewise seem to be seductive - at least to a certain mentality, for a couple of reasons, neither of which are particularly flattering.

For one thing, they offer a childishly simplified moral universe to believe in instead of a complicated and often conflicted moral reality. Instead of seeing the world as inhabited by flawed and often ineffective people generally trying to do the right thing - and frequently coming into irreconciliable conflicts with other more-or-less decent people and other right things - you are allowed to believe instead in a class of omnicompetent but irredeemably evil beings scarcely resembling anything we understand as human that have hijacked our innocence and our decency for their own incomprehensibly yet unquestionably sinister ends.

They can therefore be opposed whole-heartedly, without any trace of empathy for a common humanity. It's a lot like any run-of-the-mill bad religion in this mode.

Secondly, it allows the believer to cast himself as exceptional, enlightened, privy to a secret wisdom shared by few and reviled by many - not just a morally superior being to his powerful enemies, but also an intellectually superior being to the multitudes of bleating sheep on whose behalf he is called to struggle.

It's also rather like any run-of-the-mill bad religion in that way, too, I suppose.

Really, I wish these people would satisfy their urge to self-dramatize by playing World of Warcraft or making a cult of NFL football instead of cluttering up a perfectly serviceable internet forum with their pathetic proselytizations, but de gustibus non est disputandum, I suppose.

see Illuminatus Trilogy for similar type of deal.

Also, two very entertaining (both very funny), trippy conspiracy movies that I've discovered recently. These are both mind-blowers, made up completely of old archival footage:

I got five minutes into this thing. Not a single word had been spoken, but it has thoroughly convinced me that Hare Krishnas are conspiring to steal the world's supply of Corn Flakes In a bid take over South Dakota.

Sarcasm= the GNP of SG.

Typical that nobody can overcome their two minute attention spans to from an opinion of their own.

Umm.. I don't really have the attention span needed to watch this, can somebody else watch it and tell me my opinion for me?

I watched the whole thing and I don't know what to believe, frankly the whole idea scares the shit out of me.

The world has been fucked since there was a world.

There is nothing going on today that has not been going on since we first assembled together in caves.

The only variable is technology.

Are you nuts? It's obvious that it's perpetrated by the Hare Krishnas. How could it not be? I mean, there's not a single mention of them anywhere, so it must be a distraction set up by them so they can steal our Corn Flakes! There can be no other explanation.
