I'm lost

AUG 13, 2007 09:30 AM

Karl Rove is stepping down from his position as Chief Asshole at the White House at the end of the month. Rove is trying to make the case that it is his decision, but it’s pretty obvious that is not the case. The president has matched Nixon’s disapproval poll numbers. He has led the White House into more than one ugly scandal. Also, he is really, really unattractive. That can’t be great to look at day after day.

I just think it's time. There's always something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here, I've got to do this for the sake of my family.

Uh huh. Probably has nothing to do with Congressional Republicans calling for your head, openly stating in the media how your policies and tactics are killing the party. It also probably has nothing to do with the Attorney General scandal, of which you were clearly the architect.

I know they'll say that. But I'm not going to stay or leave based on whether it pleases the mob.

Okay, but know that the mob is really fucking pleased. Also, it is not so much the mob that drove you out, as it was your own party. They think you are an albatross. You made short term victories and decimated the party long term.

Rove has been with Bush since his early days in Texas. He will return to Texas to be closer to his son. Yes, the demon has a son. In ten years we will all be horrified by the actions of Rove’s spawn. I’m not sure why Buffy never killed Rove, or at least sent him back into the hell mouth. Now it has reproduced and is training its apprentice demon.

What caught my attention about the article is that his resignation will him less protected from Congressional investigation.

So I have to wonder what exactly is going on here. I may be paranoid, but I smell a ruse of some kind.

Yeah, but he can just sit in front of Congress and not answer questions, like every other former employee has done.

Absolutely right. Not only was this piece horribly biased, but incredibly uninformative as well.

For example, not ONE mention was made of the damage left behind on the White House furniture due to the corrosive ichor seeping from every pore of Rove's lizardlike skin as he oozed his way out of the building like a greasy turd thrown hard against the wall that slowly and stubbornly succumbs to gravity until it slides off into a sad disgusting little puddle of filth and excrement on the floor.

I sincerely hope to see such remiss reporting resolved next time.

Right from the News FAQ, #10.8:

We are not a reputable, objective news source. Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and other fat senior citizens who think of news as objective would/do hate the SG Newswire. We are part gossip rag, part talk radio, part daily show, part djs (spinning you the newspaper stories instead of songs). Other sites report; we mangle, spin, pontificate upon, slant and direct you to the stuff on the web we think worthy of your notice, whether for humor's sake, or because it's important.

Then again, I should thank you for your typo-ridden posts mocking, oh delicious irony, our intelligence!

I'm not sure that I've ever read anything that's "totally non-biased." And I'm not sure that disliking a Republican necessarily makes one a "partisan" (the whole "one or the other" mentality that plagues US politics). Some of us don't belong to a political party at all, and simply dislike, and have disliked, the current administration because they are really, really bad at their jobs.

That seems less likely to me than that they've found some kind of obscure way to prevent him from testifying by having him resign.

This White House isn't known for cutting deals with Democrats, but it is known for making the most of bullshit technicalities when matters of supreme importance to the Republic are stake.

I just think it's somehow appropriate that the CNN online story I read about this says that now that he's out of the White House, he plans to go dove hunting. Yes, folks: dove hunting. Now that he's done subverting the constitution and returning us to the days of the smoke-filled room, he's going to go slaughter pretty little birds with a shotgun.

I hate people who are evil and try to pretend they're not: the warm fuzzy stick the knife in while you're not looking sort. Bush is like that. Karl (like Rummy) wears his allegiance to Satan on his sleeve for all to see. I mean, at least he's owning it. smile

Aren't they going to argue that executive privilege covers former employees, ie Harriet Meirs? I think their strategy may be just to drag the court case past the end of the Presidential term and hope that at that point, continuing the case looks like political lynching in the eyes of the public. I think they're counting on the democrats not to have a stiff enough spine to see the court case through to its bitter end [and if the Democrats do, the current admistration is counting on recent court appointees to rule in their favor].

I'd say you're probably right. I'm most likely just expecting something more byzantine out of pure paranoia.
