So you understand Holmes, but are having trouble with 'Einstein was a vegetarian'?

I don't have any trouble with Einstein being a vegetarian.

Wrong Holmes, Holmes.

here's another thought i had in regards to the possible benefits of meditation vis a vis the mess that the world has become. what if we, as humans, just needed to take less action overall, or at least think before we act? a lot of the strife and chaos in the world, it seems to me, stems from humans just mindlessly reacting. the middle east...terrorism...war...gang violence etc. its all people (re)acting like robots and not trying to rise above the fear and futility of behaving like your neighbor is. its my understanding that a person that meditates learns to appreciate the value in being still. in essence, not acting. of course there are times that action is required and just thinking is suicide but isnt it fair to say that a man like Bush could benefit from a little more soul searching and a little less macho action?

i've always felt that technology and economics have taken humans about as far as they could go in terms of progress and that any further evolution of the species would have to be some sort of revolution of the mind. i guess what kind of struck me about this thread was that, besides the weird alien light being stuff, to me there's a lot of truth in stating that humans have become disconnected from their true purpose and natural instincts. people are more or less alienated nowadays. we dont live in communities anymore, we need the internet to feel connected to other people and gut instinct has been replaced by intellectualism.

i think humans can do better and if that makes me new-agey and touchy feely then so be it. all my heroes were too.

just like it has been well established that you don't actually think, you simply regurgitate whatever cool, spiritually materialistic bumper sticker that happens to be stuck to oprah's hummer this week?

just like it has been well established that meh, meh, meh, meh, meh, meh?

This entire thread is off the deep end.

It's got to be, like, totally bad for your karma or something to keep posting in it. Here, I'll help you all out.
