George Bush continued his relentless attack on the will of the American people and the law today by commuting the sentence of Scooter Libby.
President Bush commuted the sentence of former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby on Monday, sparing him from a 2 1/2-year prison term that Bush said was excessive. Bush's move came hours after a federal appeals panel ruled Libby could not delay his prison term in the CIA leak case.
That meant Libby was likely to have to report to prison soon and put new pressure on the president, who had been sidestepping calls by Libby's allies to pardon the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I respect the jury's verdict," Bush said in a statement. "But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."
Yeah, dude had it really hard. He was sentenced by a jury of his peers to serve time for obstructing and investigation into the outing of a CIA agent.
This is clearly more of the same from Bush and company. The more they are pushed to stay within the law, the more they push back and shove their power in the faces of America and Congress. In this case it is a clear response to the latest subpoenas issued by Congress for the administrations records on the US Attorney scandal and illegal wiretapping.
There should be one response and only one response by Congress: Impeach Dick Cheney. Show this cunt of a president what power really means. There are ample reasons to do so, so impeach the fucker.
FearTheReaper is on vacation, sitting in a pool with a cool beer between his legs and did not want to be bothered with this bullshit.
Man, I didnt think Bush really was going to do this, but with his approval rating at its worst ever, maybe he felt like there was nothing politically to lose.
We Americans are so lucky we have our blogs 'n shit so we can vent at every arrogant outrageous move Bush & Co make... what would we all do without our Internets?...
