I'm lost

An elderly New Hampshire couple who told the IRS to go fuck themselves is now surrounded by armed forces outside their fortress-like home.

About 50 state troopers, some armed with high-powered rifles, along with a vehicle from the explosives unit gathered this morning in Plainfield, a small town where Edward and Elaine Brown have holed up in their home since being convicted of tax evasion and sentenced to lengthy federal prison terms.

The Browns insist federal income tax laws are invalid and have holed up in their hilltop home on 110 acres in Plainfield, which has a watchtower, concrete walls and the ability to run on wind and solar power. Brown said he has stockpiled food and supplies.

Federal income tax laws invalid? The Browns sent a letter saying exactly that to the IRS back in 1997 and haven't filed since. Eventually they were convicted for not paying taxes on almost $2 million in income. While there may be some argument as to the legality of the 1913 act which created the IRS, let's face it, if the taxman sends 50 armed men to your house they don't want to talk Constitutional law. They want their money. The Browns claim they'll never surrender.

"The only way we're coming out of our home is either as free man and free woman or in body bags," Elaine A. Brown said last week in a radio interview. "We will not waiver from our position."

Officials have denied they're gonna go all Waco on the Browns and insist they are only there to serve a warrant. Hopefully it will all end peacefully. Meanwhile, maybe its time to make that appointment with the accountant about those missing tax returns!

You didn't mention that there was already a trial at which they were found guilty by due process. According to your own source:

They were convicted in January of scheming to hide $1.9 million of income between 1996 and 2003. They also were convicted of using $215,890 in postal money orders to pay for their residence and for Elaine Brown's dental office. The money orders were broken into increments just below the tax-reporting threshold.

U.S. District Judge Steven McAuliffe sentenced them each to 5 1/4 years in prison. They skipped the April sentencing hearings, and Ed Brown has said he and his wife will refuse to surrender to authorities.

You also neglected to mention that they were religious loonies:

At the Browns' home, the Browns answered a telephone call from The Associated Press by saying: "This is the Lord's House. This is Sister Elaine and Brother Edward."

And paranoiacs:

The Browns have been aware of increased police activity all morning. In an audio file posted on a blog this morning, he said a silent aircraft at about 5,000 feet in the air flew over his home overnight.

No doubt he picked it up on his solar-powered radar.

I often find it hard to be upset by these kind of things. I mean, I suppose I would rather people not get shot.... But I pay my fucking taxes, I'm a firm believer in the collective good and free riders piss me off.

Are you saying "they are [going to be] dead" or are you literally saying "they are dead"? Do you have a source?

Shit, I guess this means I need to argue coherently on the boards. Oh well, the putsch had to occur someday.

If I could do this I would but I would go to jail .

I do have a problem with the fact that I pay taxes and see a lot of it wasted by the very people that make the laws that are suppose to do good.

I enclosed this link so as to shed light on what the constitution and the changes that have been made state.

All I can say now is Go Brown . My hat if off to you.
