No, I meant all the hostile comments. I get them towards politicians and people that run things, and can potentially affect your life. But Paris is a celebrity. You don't like what she does change the channel, don't buy those magazines that put famous people in for apparently no reason. I'm in no way defending her actions. She should be punished. I just don't get the hostility. If people are angry 'cause she put people's lives in danger, that's one thing, but that obviously isn't what this thread was about.

It's more than a DUI. It's a consistent, blatant disregard for the law. She's had like 4 different infractions.

Does that make all the needless hating anymore necessary? You know. I really don't care. Just thought I'd comment.

But she's so easy to hate! She's young, she's arguably attractive, and she's got money. And then she has the nerve to enjoy life.

I'm with you. She's a moron, and I have a real problem with drunk drivers. But her going to jail is a dubious reason for celebration.

Paris Hilton is not going to jail for DUI. She's going to jail for flagrantly violating the terms of her probation.

I will repeat what I've said elsewhere:

Paris was given a slap on the wrist for a DUI last fall -- she was given a ticket to appear in court and then and a slap-on-the-wrist "probation and mandatory alchohol education classes; license suspended, jail sentence suspended on completion of terms of probation" sentence.

The same level of DUI ( .08, which i SERIOUSLY doubt was Paris' true BAC at the time -- I was at that party), only months before and in the same city, landed Bean in the Los Angeles County Jail for 18 hours, during which time he got to hang out with gang members and rapists and other such fun people. It resulted in a several-thousand-dollar fine, the loss of his license for at least a year, mandatory (expensive) alcohol education classes, and a requirement to attend a certain amount of AA meetings within a set amount of time, and a long probation period after which he will have to carry expensive insurance for years. Bean made a huge effort to complete all the terms of his sentence, including being forced to miss work to put up with the court-ordered programs' schedules. We had to sell his car to cover the cost of everything. He hasn't driven even once since he got pulled over.

Paris Hilton, who, as far as I can tell, has no responsibilities or work schedule to hold to, flagrantly violated the terms of her suspended sentence, holding to exactly zero of the requirements. She's been pulled over for reckless driving several times since her license was suspended, and has attended none of the required classes.

I'd say she deserves the jail time. It is proof that the justice system works equally for the Paris Hiltons of the world as well as people like me and Bean, and that's cause for celebration.

Little princesses like these only learn if you hit then where it REALLY hurts..... Freeze her accounts (and her trust fund), so she's forced to work for her evening meal. Let her do that for a year and see if she truely learns her lesson.

People missed my point it was just a harmless funny digg at a plastic barbie celebrity. She should go to jail I dont feel sorry for her or even think about her EVER, I dont read trashy magazines and tv shows and i dont think I was harsh or bigoted in my comments as some have suggested.

My point now is we put too much stock into celebrities and their lives, I know its human nature to idolise and have hero's but really WTF has Brad Pitt or Nicole Kidman or George Cloney ever really done to beneifit humanity other than entertain us that 100's of other actors could have done. We go to far with celeb worship and we let them get away with murder, sometimes literly as in OJ.

I think we let them get away with so much for the one day when we are rich and famous and we want to get away with it all, We want special or preferential treatment which is fine in its self I know I would trade lives with Brad anyday but as a civilization do we think this is healthy? What are people willing to do to get there and what will that do to us in turn, We have drasticly changed alot of peoples attidude towards race, mixed marriges and I believe very soon same sex marriges, so maybe the basement of celebrity needs a good clean. wink

Way to go, Nixon, corrupting the innocent wee babes of the West with all your societally unapproved shenanigans. "Burn the Witch" has collapsed her little world in a vortex of self-realization, ever constricting until an untimely demise, I'm sure. Well done. ~golf clap~

The likelihood that Hilton will do anymore time than a few hours at a processing center is very, very small.

This has little to do with Hilton, and lots to do with over crowded prisons.

Okay, well, and the fact that she is a complete nut case who will present major liability problems for the prison. This ain't no Martha Stewart we are talking about. Hilton will be, make, cause, be the center of and the victim of all manner of trouble.

I've since heard Paris has now asked her fans to sign a petition to keep her out of nick.
This is a further reason for her to 'go down' as it were.

Perhaps she'll try that fantastic stunt pulled by pseudo-rap nobody Mark Morrison in the 90s where he paid a lookalike to do his jail time for him...
...they didn't fall for it

I get the fact that she deserves to go to jail. That's not what I was arguing (well, I wasn't really arguing anything, I was really just commenting). I'm all for equal punishment under the law (celebrities and the "common folk" alike). I was talking about all the hateful comments.
