Is every one as cynical as this guy^ these days? I mean yeah, there's always going to be corruption. Did you ever play Civilization? The point is to minimize it. In comparison to other countries, I think we're doing a good job. Does that mean I'm satisfied? Of course not. We can always better ourselves. I'm just getting sick of defeatist sentiment.

Hey, I bitched a lot, but I did offer solutions too. 1. Term Limits 2. Ballot access for third party candidates. (Of course, third party candidates will be just as corrupt as the rest of them without term limits.)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to badmouth you or anything. I was just saying...

But out of curiosity, what do you mean by third party ballot access?

Currently, at least where I live in Florida, Republican and Democrat candidates who are nominated by their parties are automatically placed on the ballot. Libertarians, Greens, Socialists, Reform Party , etc. have to get a certain number of signatures on a petition each and every election to be placed on the ballot, and then they must garner a certain percentage of votes to avoid having to repeat the same process the next time out. I propose that the threshold for remaining on the ballot be at least lowered so that Libertarians, Greens, Socialists, etc always have their candidates on the ballot, hopefully giving a grassroots campaign at least a fighting chance.

Lowering the number of votes required to stay on the ballot isn't a bad idea, although there is a reason for it (to keep the ballots simple, people apparently have a hard enough time with them as it is smile). But I have a hard time understanding why you're all about this and so against the campaign reform under consideration, their relative impact should be obvious.
