And that is because some people are idiots.

I'm guessing you're not an Obama fan?

Wait, what? I'm missing the connection. I don't think my statement implies that I think Obama is an idiot. confused

The connection being that he "thinks for himself", but it's OK. I was just teasing you.

I was thinking EC was doing a little too much thinking for himself, there.

Of course, all of those are political code for "completely fucking ineffective", but whatever.

Granted he's a loon but IMHO the idea of "thinking for oneself" is not by any means overrated, the expectation that all or even most are capable of doing so is the issue.

Ah, the old I-cannot-comment-due-to-the-ongoing-investigation defense... Well interestingly enough, that is just what seems to be happening with the
Office of Special Council (not to be confused with the Office Of Special Plans, the pre-war false intelligence think tank led by Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Feith). It probably was Rove who came up with the idea himself so as to prevent any investigations or subpoenas issued by the Legislative Branch from taking place... I can see their findings already. "They have nothing to hide, see, nothing!" It's kind if like the old "If the gloves don't fit, you must acquit" defense. The interesting thing is that some of these special "independent" investigators are now being investigated themselves over allegations for what appear to be politically motivated actions surprisingly similar to Rove's...

Scott Bloch, appointed by Bush in 2004 to be the Special Council of the U.S. Office of Special Council (yeah, I know kind of redundant and self-important sounding). It's hardly a going to be a fair and impartial investigation with an Executive Branch office investigating the Executive Branch, especially when Scott Bloch has been known to intimidate his own staffers as well as a whole myriad of unethical mismanagement practices... Regarding the investigation into the Office of Special Council, they provided the following gem,

"Due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation, OSC cannot comment on it other than to say we look forward to the speedy resolution."

Doh! Fucking brilliant. surreal
I'm officially christening the year 2007 as the 'Year of The Stonewall'. whatever

That's what I mean. Maybe I should have just stuck to "too widely applied."

so today , please take 10 minutes and a little money to call your appropiate congressman and senator and give them an earfull, then call mr kuncinich office either in dc or one of his satelite offices in ohio and thank him for indroducing the artiticles. thats a real show of courage on his part.i really respect a guy whos is running for president who wants to establish a department of peace in his administration, here is my analogy to mr cheney , if he was a vp of a corporation and had publicily insulted a rival , there was susupicion of using the corporation for his own financial gain(ie insider trading), had lied to the shareholders about a rival corps plans, the board , the shareholders would immediately call for the corps vp resignation or dismissal..........and there is where the truth lies, we the people are share holders in a beautiful concept called democracy and freedom,we do have a vote , we do have a voice...remember mlk when he said your silence is betrayal. so its more than a right, its a duty as a shareholder to let the rest of the board know

The articles charge the Vice President of manipulating pre-war intelligence and of providing false intelligence of an Iraqi weapons of mass destruction program.

I wonder if this is the same scandal as the one targetting Rice for accusing Iraq of buying uranium from ... I forget which mid-eastern country.

If I'm thinking of the right incident, it was Nigeria (an African country). I could be wrong though.

Not mid-eastern - African.

That would be Niger. And the attempt to purchase "yellowcake." It's only a very small (though famous) part of the falsification and manipulation of intelligence that took place in the run-up to the war.

Edit to add: once again, emotedcreations was faster on the draw than me.
