Michael Moore has decided to use 9/11 responders as pawns in his latest movie. He is taking sick Ground Zero workers to Cuba in an attempt to show that the US healthcare system is worse than Fidel’s. The trip is being filmed for his new movie called “Sicko,” about evil pharmaceutical companies and HMOs.

Apparently Moore is trying to kill two birds with one stone, as the government has done its best to abandon 9/11 workers who have fallen ill due to the toxins at the Ground Zero. Moore is going to show how we let the workers suffer while the healthcare companies get rich. Some 9/11 workers are pissed.

Okay, that’s a little extreme. You might want to rethink your stance.

Moore’s production company told some of the 9/11 responders that Cuba has developed new techniques for treating lung cancer and respiratory illnesses. For years Cuba has been sending doctors to countries around the world. Its advances in cancer treatment bring in $100 million a year to the island nation.

Some responders feel totally fucked over by Moore. Michael McCormack, a medic, suffers from chronic respiratory illness. He was contacted by Moore’s production company and filmed an interview.

In March, McCormack found out that Moore had gone to Cuba without him. I guess McCormack wasn’t sick enough, or not sympathetic enough. Nothing like getting up the hope of a sick man who sacrificed himself to help others and then ditching him without a word.

moore just pisses me off. the man is doing more harm than good at this point. i'm sure what he is documenting isn't fair, and people are getting screwed, but um....this isn't anything new. exploiting it is even worse.

Michael Moore IS a complete asshole who, as Avidity has said, is now causing way more harm than good in his attempt to pretend he's 'bringing the truth to light' when all he wants is fame and fortune. Your over-generalization and insult to my 'fucked up country' is pissing me off.

One does not have to be a 'right wing mong' (wtf is a mong? I'm assuming it's an insult of some sort) to recognize that Michael Moore is an extremist, alarmist, sensationalist, opportunistic douchebag.

He is not the only person who is standing up to the Bush administration. On the contrary, millions of Americans have been diligently working for the past 7 years to combat all of the Bush administration's fucked up policies.

The problem with Moore is that he actually does more to discredit the American left anti-Bush camp than he does to help it.

A (Republican) friend of mine made a joke the other day about how Ralph Nader is probably getting kickbacks from the GOP to keep running for President to split the vote on the left. I'd go farther to say that Michael Moore is the best candidate for being a Stealth Conservative out of any pundits today. It's almost the only explanation for how he can continue to act the way he does, and there's an important lesson for "The Left" (if such a thing really exists).

The Bush administration is an unmitigated disaster, this is an opinion held by a great many people. However it's no reason for Democrats or any other left leaning political organization to welcome everyone else of like mind into their bed, because there are some real fucking idiots out there.

Like Moore. He's a dishonest, sleazy propagandist who employs the same "ends justify the means" tactics that he and others accuse Bush of, and by associating with him it only opens yourself up to being dragged down with him in debate. The GOP did this to spectacular success in the last election, despite Kerry studiously ignoring Moore.

The take home lesson here is that you can understand that your President is an asshole waging wars that never should have been started, but this does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that everyone who stands against him is correct in their reasons or are any better. Same with "Loose Change," it's poorly researched bullshit that has been debunked multiple times by the likes of Popular Mechanics.

Finally, posting from Australia telling Americans to "wake up" about their government is the height of irony.

All I want to say is Moore is showing a different view on things thats happening.
I'm not agreeing/disagreeing with what he talks about in any way.
He's basically giving his view of a situation and stacking it with many facts and figures... BUT not every fact and figure out there proves he is right. So maybe he leaves a few things out here and a number out there. He's allowed to give his opinion. It's up to me and you to sit back and take it all in, from many different sorces and come to conclusions.

its the people who take his word as 100% accurate without checking all the info out there that worry me. They get all bend out of shape becuase Bush or a government keeps things in the dark or does whats best for them and not the masses. They get all upset becuase they feel everyone is following Bush blindly and not questioning what should be questioned.. BUT they are taking Moore at face value and not questioning all his motives.. if he has any.

I just wish people would thinkg it all out and come to more complete conclusions.

(Im Canadian, and to be honest I don't follow politics hardcore. I used Bush just becuase it was the easiest opposition I could think of against those whom seem to follow Moore. If you want to replace Bush with another world leader or action or what not.. thats fine by me)

All the proof is out there as i said go watch loose change, 9/11 in plane site. all the facts are there deside for yourself. where is the evidence that bin ladin had any thing to do with it....its all about the OIL O.I.L. who has the most weapons of mass desruction on the planet USA.

The real question is, are you okay with him exploiting personal tragedies for cheap political points?

if moore could just get in, make his point, and get out he'd be one of the best documentary filmmakers of his generation, but he always has to push it just a little bit further. he has to go for some bullshit emotional appeal or make the bad guys look totally unreasonably evil. i mean he has the eye for it and he's been dealing with some of the easiest topics out there (i mean come on, how hard is it to make bush look evil?). if he'd just present the facts in an interesting way, he'd be set.

Mr. Moore lost any respect I held for him when he ambushed Kirk Douglas. It's below loathing to beat down an old man with a declining mental state, regardless of how much of an NRA member he was.

Personally, I happen to think that its the complete LACK of solidarity that is causing all of the problems for the left, not Micheal Moore or any other specific person. Hell, I'm wondering if we'll even have any manner of leadership in '08.

I most certainly am not. I shake my head when I hear people who seem thankful that Moore is fighting the good fight and showing us ALL what we would never have seen without him. I am against his ways of putting his point across. he breaks down the more complex issues into yes and no answers. Sadly not everything is YES and NO. All choices have consequence.

There's always money to be made peddling easy answers to questions that don't have them.
