I'm lost

Last week Former NBA player Tim Hardaway let loose with some ugly remarks about homosexuals while being by interviewed on a Miami radio station.

"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I'm homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."

Hardaway also went on to say if he found out a teammate was gay he would ask for the player to be removed.

"I'd ask him to get traded. Something has to give," Hardaway said. "The majority of the players would ask for him to be traded, or they would want to get traded. Or just buy him out of his contract and let him go."

Hardaway was quickly punished by the NBA, which banished him from several All-Star game appearances and completely detached themselves from the ex-player. Realizing this would effect his wallet, Hardaway has apologized twice, the last time on Sunday.

”I don’t hate gay people,” Hardaway said. ”I’m a goodhearted person. I interact with people all the time. ... I respect people. For me to say ’hate’ was a bad word, and I didn’t mean to use it.”

”That was very bad.”

Well, that is sort of an apology. But who is worse, the guy who says comments like this, or a conservative talk show host/movie reviewer/twunt who backs Hardaway up?

Enter Michael Medved, a man who called Captain America a traitor and could not have supported the Iraq war more. Medved is now taking up the cause and breaking down why Tim Hardaway is right, only he decided to take down fat chicks along the way.

"Tim Hardaway (and most of his former NBA teammates) wouldn't welcome openly gay players into the locker room any more than they'd welcome profoundly unattractive, morbidly obese women. I specify unattractive females because if a young lady is attractive (or, even better, downright 'hot'wink most guys, very much including the notorious love machines of the National Basketball Association, would probably welcome her joining their showers. The ill-favored, grossly overweight female is the right counterpart to a gay male because, like the homosexual, she causes discomfort due to the fact that attraction can only operate in one direction. She might well feel drawn to the straight guys with whom she's grouped, while they feel downright repulsed at the very idea of sex with her."

Um…um…I…uh…okay.

When Hardaway says “I hate gay people” what he suggests at the deepest level is that he feels revolted by the very notion of same-sex eroticism and that he’d prefer not to face the distraction of such thoughts in the locker room or on the court. In this sense, the reluctance to team (in athletics or the military) with announced homosexuals isn’t bigotry, it’s common sense.

Wow, what an articulate and thoughtful statement. I know when I’m on a basketball court I don’t want to be distracted by thoughts of a penis entering a soft anus. I think this debate is over.

Michael Medved's statements are completely illogical.
So, by his reasoning, if there were a gay man on court (god forbid GUARDING Tim Hardaway or any other homophobe) instead of Tim daydreaming about Wilt Chamberlain laying pipe to hordes of women in a very manly and NON-HOMOSEXUAL way, he'll be forced by some will of the gay-ness that's oh so painfully close in proximity to instead automatically daydream of sweaty, man-on-man backboard banging while driving to the hoop only to dunk on the poor bastard with a TOTAL !FACIAL! eeek eeek eeek

*actual basketball terminology.

When you watch basketball, you see a lot of guys backing up, sticking their asses out while the guy behind them bends over them and throws their arms up.

Now.. maybe I'm weird... but that looks a lot like dry-butt-humping to me. Just cause they're dribbling a ball while they do it doesn't make it any less gay.

Hmmm.
Well I am so disgusted and uncomfortable when I feel the eyes of creepy, pervy old men as they mentally fondle my ass that I believe they should no longer exist in my presence. Actually not just the creepy old men, but the dumb ass jocks, the nice guys I'm just not into, the pimply, uncomfortable teenagers, and the "hot" guys who just want to fuck me and add a name to their list.
I should only have to suffer the presence of those I find attractive.

This drives me crazy. Medved is giving credence to some of the stupidest, most ignorant shit I've heard on the airwaves, and shit that totally needs to be addressed by the american public.

It is at this point that it becomes clear that Medved is projecting his own views. He says that comparing homophobia to racism is ridiculous, yet if the best be can do is talk about lustful fat women in the shower then his ridiculing skills need some work.

George Takei was fabulous.

Bean, that video is fucking hilarious.

On another note, Thank God for Famous Stupid People like Tim Hardaway, making stupid statements like that......we're going to get weeks, maybe months of enjoyment out of people tearing him up.

Distracted? I think someone else doesn't want to feel "distracted" by gay men. Why don't you do some reviews of all that gay porn you've been watching in your closet, Mr. Medved.

Do you mean to tell me with a name like Hardaway he's not actually gay in the first place?

Somebody should point out to Medved he's not exactly a welcome sight in the WNBA locker room himself.

That's also kind of racist, when you think about it... he's saying NBA Players (Many of whom are wealthy black men) are promiscuous.

Anyway, I just looove the Medved article on Captain America... Medved must be furious about the "Civil War" Storyline... Captain America refusing to knuckle under to government supervision and all that. There's a reason comics aren't written like they were in the forties.

What a putz. Oh, yeah, the George Takei thing is awesome.

I suspect homophobes are nervous about occasionally being subject to the kind of unwanted masculine attention that women have to put up with all the time.
