Read this.

Now stop with the actual personal attacks, and stop fucking flagging every other post people make. It's getting ridiculous. Grow a thicker skin, and grow a fucking brain that lets you figure out the difference between an attack on your argument and an attack on you personally -- and for the love of all that's (un)holy, please fucking learn to distinguish your opinion and your personal experience from unarguable fact. They are not the same thing.

No more name-calling, any of you. Jesus, I have half a mind to recommend that about 10 people be zotted right now because I'm sick of you all flagging each other every day over petty comments that you should have let slide off your back -- or that you should have returned with a torrent of logic instead of running for the flag button.

Thanks for posting this.

The boards have been geting rather vitriolic as of late and people do need to calm down a bit.

While vigorous debate is all well and giood, when it gets to the point where a limitied number of particularly vociferous people are calling each other names and swearing at each other in every other post and TYPING STUFF IN CAPITALS, I think it does tend to discourage everyone else from posting and the general quality of debate declines.

Well I don't want to single out any particular newswire contributor, it's just his post happened to be, um, convenient for making my point.

I don't know that this is the case but there seems to be a policy (not just in politics but throughout the newswire) of publishing articles which generate a lot of controversy, instead of articles which take a more even approach. Now that certainly brings in traffic and causes a stir, but it doesn't do much for civil conduct.

I know you can't change it. But I thought I'd throw in my $.02.

Agreed. Civil discourse ain't coming back while we have articles like this being published all the time. And it's not just Reaper.
