SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean government officials said
North Korea performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test Monday, the South's Yonhap news agency reported.

South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun convened an urgent meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported.

The North said last week it would conduct a nuclear test as part of its deterrent against a possible U.S. invasion.

Dude, do you have any idea how much the rent on a two-person fallout shelter would be in San Francisco? We're talking $900-$3200, depending on the neighborhood!

The funniest part is how, almost seven years into Bush's presidency and two decades of Republican majority in the House (and many years in the Senate as well), the people in that thread still find creative ways to blame Clinton.

omg....

No, this is the grim side effect of a backwards Stalinist regime which has been nothing but belligerent for its entire history.

You can blame Bush for a lot of things, but North Korea has been moving along this path since Bush was 2 years old.

you can also think about it this way, since Bush attack Iraq for no legitimate reason, North Korea or any country, who is on the US shit list, only chance of survival is to have a deterrent against such attack ...
Any country who has an enemy that has nuclear weapons is bound to seek their own nuclear weapons ... tic-for-tac ...

can we blame him for ignoring the very real threat of north korea's nuclear ambitions and instead invading and occupying a hostile nation based on manipulated and misleading intelligence?
