For fuck's sake, let it die. "Fitzmas" is not coming, and if you're looking to get back at Dubya Bush, Rove and co., there are million better ways to go about it than riding on the backs of two attention whores who posed for a Vanity Fair spread.
I know exaggerations are SOP when it comes to any issue involving the Iraq war, but when did a single photograph become a "spread"? It's true that the photo fills two pages, but that's because all VF features are designed that way, not because the Wilsons got some special "attention whore" treatment.
In the magazine business, a "spread" means a series of different photographs--a photo essay--which is what VF usually does with those who are actually on the cover, which the Wilsons were not, contrary to your statement above.
By the way, is this the same Joseph Wilson who was called a "true American hero" by George H. W. Bush--who appointed him as acting ambassador to Iraq--for standng up to Saddam Hussein when he was the last American in Baghdad before Gulf War I?
I think so . . . but of course he's a total asshole now.
Mr. Libby's motive in allegedly disclosing her name to reporters, Mr. Fitzgerald said, was to disprove yet another false assertion, that Mr. Wilson had been dispatched to Niger by Mr. Cheney.
Well, a lot of people keep saying that Wilson has said he was sent by Cheney, but Wilson never said he was sent by Cheney.
i really appreciate the link you've provided, stockula, which allows the rest of us to understand why you're resurrecting a thread that has been dead for two years.
the Plame scandal stinks from start to finish. they found a handy fall guy that they could jettison with all of the blame. it's possible that Libby acted alone, of course--but given the Bush administration's track record for such behavior, i have a hard time buying it.
besides, i'm not sure just now is the right time to be gloating. it seems to me that McClellan is just tooting his own horn, right now, but maybe he'll churn something damning up.
