So...I was just sitting at home...looking at SG and making ever-so-witty observations abttu life...when my phone rang. It was somebody from the Democratic Committee for SomethingorOther. They asked for a few minutes of my time. Since I'm off today...I figured..sure, I'll take part in your little survey.
Only it wasn't a survey. They were asking for cash donations of $100 to help elect Democrats to Congress.
Now, I'm not completely disenfranchised from the democratic process...but seriously...federal-level politicians are, for the most part, upper-middle class or better. You don't need $100 from someone making less than $40k.
I told the person on the phone that I'd be happy to help elect more Democrats if they would provide more qualified candidates in my district.
I don't think that was the type of support they were looking for.

Give me $100 and I'll run for congress on a no-Political-Telemarketing platform. You'll never be bothered again!

Heh. I did something like that for a few months. Only it was door to door and for a PAC not the Democrats. Some of it was pretty cool. Some of it was fucking lame.
back when I was living with my parents, I got those all the time.
I dont get those anymore because my only phone is a cell phone and they cant telemarket a cell phone (lucky for me, they passed a law where people cant do that)
I get a lot of junk mail for that though, my favorite one was for this republican canidate whoses way of getting people to send you money was they sent you a dollar and asked you to send it back, plus a donation.
He didnt really think of people pocketing the dollar and throwing the rest out, like I did
