Just finished reading of this novella. Started with somehow mixed feelings but ended with a smile on my face. Love classical fantasy and this one is mixed with a mystery, nice fantasy races, a bit of gunpowder and ... some nice sex. Lavie Tidhar wrote it and got the British Fantasy Award.

Just read that book and loved it. You know why? The main character is an engineer learning from his mistakes. Not only that, he shares his love for practical mechanical stuff with me :)

Read "Damnation Alley" by Roger Zelazny. The book belongs to the few postapocalyptic fiction texts I like. Just wondering why Mel Gibson did not take it to make a nice cool movie. If you like Mad Max it is your book!

bane1974:
Never read the book, i think i saw the movie based on it way back. I'll have to check it out next.
zweitesich:
@bane1974 the book is an easy read and not very long. But worth the time.

Staying at home, got some nice time for reading again and stumbled upon this story. A diary about having much money, being connected to too many computers/robots/networks/internet, AI, love, aaaand being a jerk superior..... love that one. And yes, I did not know that MIT is printing such good SF books.

Went today to the cinema. "Weathering with you" was very beautiful. I always wonder that a movie can create such feelings in me. No shootings, no big bang action from Holllywood. Just a nice story, a bit of mystery and religion and a portion of love. Caught myself with some tears in the eyes. Good night.

@eirenne loved that small shrine on the roof of the old house. There was always some sunshine there :) Read that this house was in the Yoyogi district and is no longer there....

Woke up today and realized that I was hungry. For a nice text again. So read "Station Paradise" by Andriej Kokoulin. First hard hitting in the face then getting more and more fantastic. Really diffenrent to the words of LeGuin. More direct but not less fantastic. Do people from the former soviet bloc different create harder stories? I think yes. Found at the end a...

Today was a special day. Allerheiligen, the day we think about the people who left us. But I don't want to write about them. Today started with a hot tea and a text. We get so much information from the media and there is so little time for simple and good texts. Well not simple but really good. It was "Firelight" by LeGuin. She was...

In Germany we have got a proverb. "Du bisst, was du isst". That means you can judge a person according to the food she/he eats. But when you buy some food in a supermarket, do you know what exactly lands in your stomach? Hmmmmmmmm....... Vina Prassad wrote the short story "A Series of Steaks" making a very nice mix about food and forgery. If you...

Just read "Crispin's Model" by Max Gladstone. If you stumble upon this text, it is good. Maybe you will find yourself in the letters. Sitting in front of a camera. Building that connection between the model and the artist. But is there more behind such work? Is there more behind the pixels of caught light? Maybe an another world? Are the pictures really just static...
