In the basement there is an old box with even older books. My father read them in the past. I opened it and fished a small book out, with yellow pages, the covers bent to the outside, the printing cheap. It was "All Quiet on the Western Front" written by E.M. Remarque. I took it home and read it..... Seening the past generations living in terrible times, fighting for their life and mental health and comparing it to the time I am living in. I sit at home, in a warm room, the fridge full of nice things. The guys then were in the trenches, out in the cold, killing another humans, losing limbs, breathing gas, losing sanity.... If you want to know in which way a war is changing a human, read this book, it is terrible. Especally the end.
