what's up, everyone... welcome to yet another entry in this less than stellar journal thing of mine...
i've been pretty busy lately, so here are a few random snippets that pretty much sum up the past few days:
- i saw "the motorcycle diaries" - a movie i heard very little about during its initial release but still wanted to see. it was good and some of the locations depicted in the film were amazing. i felt the story was little more than the typical modern-day hero/coming of age arrangement that could have been explored without any reference to che and his exploits, but that's not a bad thing i guess. all in all, i considered it time well spent.
- i finally found my way back to one of my old haunts to see one of my favorite local bands. i haven't been there to see them in over a year. the place and staff have changed slightly, but the place still feels like my home away from home.
- speaking of local music, i took a houseguest visiting from NY out for a show at the modified to see these fucking rockstars. the show was great, despite the rain and shitty parking.
- i also took her to see some native wares and to give her a taste of native history here. it was prolly the most touristy activity of the weekend, but it was a good time.
- madden 2k4 is a horrible bitch/goddess. i came within INCHES of the goalline today - nearly completing the greatest comeback of my virtual football career. i threw a bomb with 0:04 seconds to go in the game and instead of completing the go-aheal PAT and heading into overtime, i had to go for 2 and the win. it cost me my perfect record, but dammit, what a rush. it was worth it.
- oh yeah, did i mention that our houseguest from out of town is one of the coolest chicks i've met in a long, long time? yeah... i think i'm developing a little crush. shhh... don't tell anyone!
- hmmm... what else, what else... oh! yesterday's slam-dunk contest was AWESOME. josh smith was AMAZING. did you see how fucking SMOOTH his dunks were!? sheeeot! i really enjoyed his performance. amare on the other hand, well, he was alright - but his dunks would have been nothing without nash making him look good. not bad for a big man.
that's that. i'm off to get a little work done for the first time all weekend. have a good one!
