i'm pooped. been a crazy couple of weeks.
work work work: i took on a freelance gig building ballet costumes with a laid-off coworker of mine. long story short, he was completely unprofessional and the project was miserable (more so for everyone else than me, but i didn't have a good time). this is why i hate freelance. i thrive on professionalism and organization. and what pisses me off most is that this guy is a friend. when you work with your friends, you have to be extra careful. you have to be more professional than normal. it's akin to dating a coworker- there's more at stake than the job. unfortunately, i don't think this guy learned that valuable lesson, and managed to alienate a whole lot of really talented people.
i'm a little worried about my day job. it has been progressively slowing down at work since early spring. right now, we only have a four day work week because there isn't enough work to keep the shop open 5 days. and we learned today that shrek is closing- which means we lose a lot of rebuilds. combine that with no builds for the shrek tour and no builds for the mermaid tour... january is looking very bleak. i'm not panicking yet, but i am thankful that i have the diner. just in case my career spontaneously shits the bed on me.
the diner is the diner. it's been slow there too. i hate wasting my time. but it's necessary.
so yeah. i'm leaking money, but what else is new?
i went to see hocico on the 8th. you can see me in this one pic, standing stage left and looking pensive:
[edit] well, if you dig up the image location and click the thumbnail, you can see me. apparently it's too big for sg to handle!
great show. the afterparty was fun too- gonzoe met up with me. that boy is my alcoholic soulmate, and i love him, even if he is a filthy gemini.
settling back in to the whole relationship routine, slowly. i'm realizing now how many new hangups i've built up this year from being burned repeatedly. sometimes i'm so nervous around him, the poor boy must think i'm a mute! it's a little strange being in a relationship again, think it'll take a little while to get used to. but he's awesome, and this feels great, and i am tentatively happy. i think once we get past the 3 month mark i can exhale and truly revel in it.
home life is good. derceto is very easy to live with. thus far, not a single problem. we're having a good time and not making too much of a mess.
my ten year high school reunion is next month! i am very excited to go. unfortunately, the handful of my hs friends that graduated in my class are NOT as excited as i am, and most of them are too cool to attend. *rolls eyes* like get over it already. yeah, we got fucking picked on and made fun of. i'm willing to overlook that in lieu of an open bar!
and finally, saturday, me and my boyfriend (hee hee!) are going to a birthday party at this amazing fucking place:
lee's hawaiian islander! an AUTHENTIC tiki bar that's been in business for the past 30 years! check out the review. katerina, i'll be thinking of you the whole time! oh and apparently they do karaoke on the weekends, complete with chinese waiters singing engrish versions of classic karaoke songs. soooo fucking stoked!!
so yeah. there's a proper update. see, i'm trying to be good and not just talk about romance.
goodnight sg!
