Soo... a female friend of mine for the past 17 years got a hold of me 3 days ago telling me her and the kids were homeless because her and her husband got in an argument and he was rather abusive physically to her, she told me how she didn't have anywhere to go and her and the kids would be sleeping outside under a bridge or wherever she could find that night... And I'm thankful that this got to turn into a miracle, I asked my boss for the next day off so I could drive 3 hours to Texarkana from Dallas and buy her and the kids 3 days in a hotel. (all I could afford as I get paid bi-weekly) The time I spent in Texarkana allowed me to also meet up with another friend who was her mutual friend and just so happened to also happens to be the store manager of a Sonic that's hiring, so now not only did she not have to sleep in the cold with her kids, but she has a job, and someone to stay with for a short while, in addition I talked him into giving her a pay advance so she could get things like food for the kids, winter clothes and etc.
I'm blessed to be a part of something that was a major turn around for someone I haven't seen in ages, and I'm glad I got to spend some time with old friends I haven't seen in years even though it was on a bad note, and all the pieces fell into places to make it a whole note again. The reason I'm sharing this story is hopefully to inspire anyone going through the same things in life, or other things bringing you down and making you feel like you can never get your head above water, I know it's cliche to say that every cloud has a silver lining, but when you least expect it you might just have someone willing to help in the midst! I'm hoping that as everyone gets through this holiday season they think about the friends and family that are always there for them, and you get them something extra special to thank them for all that they've done, even if they want nothing. Also I'd like you to remember that even if you have nothing, and even if you feel no one would be there for you to always let people in on things that are bothering you, because you never know what person from your past half a life time ago would be willing to do to help you, and also encourage others to do the same, you have no idea how on top of the world I feel right now for helping to save one family, and how it's a much better feeling than anything that I could buy myself with money :-D :-D :-D
Happy holidays everyone, remember the spirit is to give, and not just receive, of course we all want something, but sometimes what people want most is just our time, I hope that everyone gets all the time they need with loved ones in the next few weeks! :)
