Bored out of my mind so far this summer. It's raining all the time in Scotland and I still don't have a job yet. The only consolation is that I start Uni in September. I've also been trying to do some stuff to quell my boredom; I've started getting fit, 'cause I plan on starting Akido classes at Uni.

So I downloaded 'Dawnguard' today, the first DLC for Skyrim. It's amazing!! You get crossbows, you can now smith arrows and bolts, there are vampire lords as well as a vampire perk tree and a werewolf perk tree. Generally you'll love it if you already love Skyrim. I've chosen the side of the Dawnguard (Vampire hunters) so I'm pretty much a boss.
Also, I got...

Been watching the rather interesting videos from Feminist Frequency called; 'Tropes vs Women'. I didn't agree with everything she said, but she does make some really good points and brings up some things I've always thought where true, such as the 'Evil Demon Seductress Woman' stereotype that suggests that women are just hear to seduce then kill or depower men; which in turn seems to...

It's difficult to write anything over an extended period of time or with a large number of characters without falling into certain stereotypes. Let's face it: For all the flack they get there are an awful lot of stereotypes out there.... Kind of hard to avoid all of them. (Besides: How often do you run into people in real life who are the embodiment of a stereotype? Probably more often than you would like to admit.)
The real problem is that people like to htink in boxes. Us and them. These are good, these others are bad. We all do it. The trick is to think in as many boxes as possible and to learn how to make new ones when needed. Not all women fit into one box. Neither do all men. Some people may fit into serveal boxes at once. Stereotypes are not a bad thing. They exist for a reason. What we need to learn is that they are architypes, not absolutes.
It's all about the shades of grey.
Fun fact... Why Joss Wheadon has so many strong female characters: He's said in interviews (to his own admitted embarasement) that these are the kind of women he falls for. An artist always leaves a bit of himself behind in his work ;-)

Well said. Although I always thought that Whedon wrote those women because of his mother.
I can't wait for Dark Knight Rises or Assassins Creed 3. That is all

So I passed my exams, which means I am into University now. Yayyy. It has just struck me though that I have four years to do, plus possibly another two or three if I want to do a PHD afterwards. Which means I'll be almost 30 when I get my first proper job with my qualification. 30 is OLD!

Thinking I'll probably cancel my SG account once the subscription runs out. I've been on it less and less recently; can't really think of anything to write in my blog. Ah welll.
Job hunting is not fun. People should just offer me jobs.
Life's so weird. I grew up in a Religious family, but am now an Atheist and I feel like I'm a kid at 22 because I'm not sure what I believe about anything and it kinda scares me. That is all.
