As a break from procrastinating, Ive decided to enlighten you all with my knowledge albeit basic- of Chemistry. Specifically; chemical bonds between atoms
Each atom has electrons spinning around its core (of protons and neutrons). Think of these electrons as people, or if youre Scottish; cheels. Now, these cheels are huge fans of hanging around in groups of eight, they just cant resist! Apparently being in a group of eight is a very Noble thing to do. Unfortunately not all atoms have a group of eight cheels in their outer (valence) shell. So they go and bond; lets say hold hands with other cheels. Take for instance Sodium (chemical symbol Na) it has only one cheel in its outer shell (presumably quite an unsociable, introverted cheel!). But Chlorine (chemical symbol Cl) has seven cheels in its outer shell! Which means they want to join up with sodium to get a group of eight cheels. Think of it like the Ceilidh dance; the eightsome reel. Ye cannae have an eightsome reel without eight folk (or fawk, if youre from the Shetland islands) so the seven cheels of chlorine let the one cheel of sodium join their group, which links the two atoms together. When all eight cheels are together and the atoms are linked, they form sodium chloride (chemical symbol NaCl) or table salt.
Well thats all for now, I should probably get back to procrastinating!

Sooooo... where were you when I was in the Chemistry unit in cosmo school?? Haha I heart Chemistry. I just didn't get to learn that much since cosmetologists don't need to know a whole lot.
