Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had a happy new year and a good holiday season.
Christmas:
Nothing special. Not only is it expensive to buy a gift for everyone you care about, but the city looks like Santa puked all over it from Thanksgiving until the end of January. And I'm a Buddist. Not a particular fan.
New Years:
Had wine and rang in the new year by watching the ball drop...and playing Fallout 3. Goal!
Resolutions?
- Continue building up my strength through intensive yoga practice
- Develop a 4-6 pack (Id settle with a 2 pack to be honest)
- Get a new job (DONE!)
My Birthday:
I turned 21! I couldn't have imagined how nice it is to actually have beer with my pizza IN PUBLIC. Some people still like to play the, "Oh..this isn't a valid licence, we can't take this" game...I don't know if it works this way in every state, but in New Mexico, our actual licences are mailed to us 2 weeks from when we go to the DMV. For those 2 weeks, we are given a B&W paper licence that is meant to be presented along with our old licence. This is LEGALLY acceptable and establishments are LEGALLY required to accept this as valid ID until the new one comes in. Jerks.
At any rate, the holidays were filled with a lot of purchases....for myself (and boyfriend). Here are the top 5 buys I've made this holiday season (with boyfriend's money):
5. Inescapeable metal crate kennels for the dogs.
-Peace of mind that the garbage won't be streun all over the house upon our return.
4. PartyLite candles
-The tealights, TEALIGHTS, burn for at least 5 hours...one little candle gives a nice little scent to a whole room. No metal in the wicks means no funky toxins floating around in the air. Amazing, awesome fragrances to choose from. Best - candles - ever.
3. Firm/Plush dual sided mattress & bedframe for said mattress
- Simmons Beautyrest now makes a plush side/firm side mattress, that has- as you would expect- a fluffy pillowy side and a rock hard painful side. Boyfriend likes to sleep on concrete, I like to sleep on feathers. Most incredible investment of 2010 when paired with the frame. Includes headboard and footboard, things that I have not had since I was a wee chitlin in my parents house. It looks like a bed out of Fable 3 and even had a secret compartment in one of the posts big enough for a glock. Epic.
2. Yoga-wear type clothing
-I have begun my new life in yoga-inspired clothing. I live in sweatpants, but then I look lazy. People think you are hip and fit when you wear yoga clothes, and I am comfy and unrestricted.
And finally, number 1.....
This is the best coffee maker I have ever experienced in my life. You fill the reserve with water to the fill line, close it. Open the k-cup slot, pop in what coffee you want, close that. Then hit brew. It brews it into your cup and you're done. Open k-cup slot, remove used k-cup, close it. NO CLEAN UP! No scrubbing pots, no washing filter baskets! Even the "cheap" coffee tastes incredible out of this thing. The celebrity feeling you get after using it comes free of charge.
That is all.
I hope everyone had a happy new year and a good holiday season.
