true heroism

this article is about a group of guys over in iraq that died for their country. one of these boys/men was a good friend of mine. this spells out exactly what happened over there to him and his group. it was excruciating to read and thinking about it continues to choke me up. this memorial day had a special meaning to me, for once i had somebody close to my heart to remember. Josh was an awesome friend, he would give you the shirt off his back even if he had to walk home in the icy rain so you would be warm. he would clean up the nightclub and pitch in when it was busy just cause he appreciated us being there. when he was rubbing my wifes back i knew that he was doing it only cause it was sore. we talked about all sorts of stuff he loved my boots he helped me change my alternator even though he was just visiting my roomates and i was being antisocial and working on my car. the last thing i needed was another "friend" what i ended up with was some freak who i ended up fixing my piece of shit with and talking for hours about texas, hillbillies cowboy boots and not touching somebody elses hat god remembers what else. the only problem i had with this article is it doesn't even begin to explain how awesome josh was as a person how many multiple lives he touched just by being around and being josh.
so this last memorial day was dedicated to josh (and all the other "joshes" out there i've never met that died while I sit back here comfortably stateside. these men/boys who get blown up for a war that they are trained to fight without questioning motives. a war they signed up for cause it was the thing to do. if any of my multiple friends that haved died over the years with multiple people talking martyrdom Josh is the first that i could call true martyr selfless in most of his acts. i only wish i could buy him one more drink and get one more of his disgusting sweaty bear hugs.
