GNR taught us how to rock.
Van Halen taught us how to have fun.
NIN taught us how to fuck.
RATM taught us how to think.
Rancid taught us not to take life so seriously.
Yah, seriously.
The parents came to visit this weekend. OMG. It was the first time in twelve years that they came to see me. I see them once a year at Xmas, so this was a bit of a shock to the system. They even stayed in my apartment. Oh God, I owe my roommate so many drinks. My ex came down to meet them. She was such a good sport about it, and the parents definitely dug her. They said, "She is a bit heavy, but the most communicative girl you've ever shown us." I'm not even going to get into all the things that are wrong with that sentence, but honestly for them, that's a pretty good statement.
We went to Victor's Caf Friday night. It's awesome if you are into opera. A must. Saturday, I showed them around my neighborhood, the Italian Market, and the girl and I took them around to the historic areas in Old City along with a few art galleries. (My mother grew up here, so nothing too shocking for her, but it was definitely hip for my father.) Sunday, on awesome recommendation from oonafae, we went to the Morris Arboretum. We all really enjoyed it. Even when it got a bit to hot for walking around, we just sat down at a shady spot and talked. I shipped the parents back off this morning and crashed out for a couple hours before starting to reclaim my apartment and life. Overall, it was a good visit, four days is just enough.
I have a bottle of Jameson and work to do before tomorrow. More later.
and remind me to tell you the story about my mother jerking off a Bassett Hound. True story. Oh my.
