Ohai St Louis.
All I have is the iPhone to report from so you get zero nonsensical pictures, apologies.
The 16 hour drive from Tampa to St Louis turned into more of a 22 hour drive. I stopped and grabbed about an hour sleep at three separate rest stops, drank way too many caffeinated beverages and was pretty much hallucinating by the time I reached the last half of Tennessee. Bones was riding shotgun with me in a kitty carrier but about a third of the way into the trip I let him out. He chilled under the seats and eventually on my lap. I hit a few storms along the way (one in Illinois was wicked violent, thank god for my adult diaper) and he would always voluntarily crawl back into the carrier, as if to say, "Good luck, Jack, I'll be in here while you're braving the wrath of Zeus out there."
All in all, the weather is (generally) better than Florida, the people are (generally) nicer and the BBQ IS TOTALLY better. Living in a clean house, with a clean kitchen and having loved ones who appreciate and respect another's privacy has given me a sense of ease that I haven't felt in I don't remember how long.
Its pretty excellent.
The one problem I'm having is that living alone/single for so long I've only had to answer to myself and my wants. Fundamental basics in another's daily living regime (I prefer to constsntly have CNN or music on in the background/she prefers silence) is a challenge I'm not used to so that is a hurdle to be dealt with. It's a fun challenge but it can be grating if the other individual isn't in the mood for compromise.
And, apparently, my dancing naked around the kitchen with salad tongs miming the clacking motions of a large lobster will have to cease until the appropriate timeframe.
Bones is adjusting as well to three others cats as can be expected, which is to say that hissing, spitting, hackles raised and minute amounts of pee are being shared by all. No blood had been shed (yet) and no animals were harmed in the making of this video.
I'll provide a better blog in a few days, never you worry. Pictures too.
