I got a temporary job doing some light carpentry work for three days (today tomorrow and the next). It was a semi short day today, about six hours where I thought it'd be twelve, and not much happened. Just painting, and sanding a floor. I was supposed to be making ten an hour but ended up only getting paid 40 for the day which sucked, but whatever. money is money.
Then I got home and my perfectly ok day, became NOT ok.
I got a message telling me to call Jenni (my best mate Seans girlfriend), so I did only to find out that last sunday, while riding home from a motorcycle rally, Sean was wearing full leathers which is always a good idea, but he neglected to get something to drink and in the 102 degree weather, he passed out, going 80 mph on his bike. Sean is now in a coma. This is one of only two guys whom I have ever considered a "brother". This is the man who will someday be my best man, and I, his. This is the incredibly intelligent person (one of very few who can keep up with me on an intellectual level), whom I have spent many nights sitting with all night, as we dissected the very fabric of life. This is my best friend. And right now he is 1500 miles away lying in the ICU of a hospital falling in and out of a coma, and not only can I not go see him, I cant even afford to keep tabs on how he is doing. I don't feel like much of a friend right now. I feel very very bad right now. More so than I feel qualified to describe. I miss my friend. One of very few people I will openly admit to loving.
Please, I beg of anyone who cares for me at all, pray for my friend. And if it isn't in you to pray, at least hope for him.
And as I'm sure Sean would want me to say, I say Please ride responsibly, and safely, but don't let bad things like this, turn you against motorcycles. I have 0 doubt Sean will someday god willing, be back on a bike, as will I.
