Has it really been a month since I've updated this blog?
I've been keeping on top of my unit work this semester, it hasn't been easy but at least I'm not rushing around trying to get extensions for every assignment. I honestly don't know how I'm going to do this semester as my essays are not exactly the well-planned masterpieces I wish they were.
So not much else has really been happening. Well that's not technically true actually but I can't really think of anything truly exciting to talk about.
Ooo! Actually there is one small thing. Murdoch is hosting a blogging competition, the best blogger for them wins an Internship at Sunset Events and will be paid for a year to blog for Murdoch. As an aspiring writer it fills me with a great deal of excitement to be able to showcase my modest talents. I think I have a fairly good chance as they contacted me ahead of the others. If anyone is so inclined to check out my blog the url is: oftenwanderingmind.blogspot.com/ Read, comment and enjoy. But please don't vote for me unless you consider mine to be the best. It would be stupidly easy to win this sort of thing by just getting people to vote, I'd rather win or lose on merit.
Work has been busy. It seems like every time they agree to give us something in return for more work they then yank the rug out from under us, but still expect the extra work. Not happy but not exactly surprised anymore.
Hmmm what else....
I got this today. I'd been desperate to read it for so long and it was worth the wait. The sheer honesty in the story is reflected in every panel. Spielgelman doesn't try to conceal his own thoughts or feelings, and some of them are pretty fucked up, about his parents.
OK geeking out yet again. Our D&D game ended rather badly, we all died. Horrifically. Like 0 chance of resurrection or other such Deus Ex Machina. On the plus side we somehow lured two of my flat-mates, Cheri and Cato, into playing for a bit. They loved it. I don't know what the stigma is with girls enjoying games like that but clearly it's unnecessary.
Yet more geekness. I picked up the first hardcover collection of the Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. It's basically a Zombie film if the heroes didn't escape at the end but were instead slowly driven insane by the constant danger and nagging fear that nothing was ever going to be alright again. I loved it. If I keep sampling new comic books it won't be long before I need to get a third job to pay for the habit.
Also am looking forward to a new set that will hopefully be shot soon by this girl: Syler
I must be off now because I'm starting to drift off. Hope everyone is well.
