My old entry had sixty-two comments, so I reckon it's time to update. I have nothing in particular to say, so here's a letter I just wrote to the White House:
"I urge you to stop the Iraq escalation.
"I am a patriot. I am justifiably proud of our Republic's historic role in the defeat of Fascism and Bolshevism. Our nation was born in a war against tyranny, and found its honor in a war against slavery. War is always terrible, and the decision to kill our fellow men is not one that should ever be undertaken lightly, or dishonestly. Yet it is a decision that must be made, and made resolutely, when the time calls for it.
"This is not that time.
"You have undertaken an unnecessary war of conquest against a distasteful but non-belligerent state. This is a disgrace to our common flag. You have compounded the immorality of this act by the incompetence of its execution. Your decisions, and the decisions of your closest advisers, in whom you alone invested power, have rendered it impossible for the most powerful military in human history to win a war against an unorganized enemy armed with soda cans, household chemicals, and garage-door openers.
"You have made our country a laughingstock.
"You have brought dishonor to our once-proud name. Where once the United States stood firm in the defense and advancement of human rights and world peace, we are now tarred the world over with shame of terms like "Guantnamo," "extraordinary rendition," "black sites," "Bagram," and "Abu Ghraib." Recent events in Baghdad have succeeded in doing what even the invasion itself could not, which is to make Saddam - a cruel, arrogant, and brutal tyrant - into a martyr.
"You have shamed the liberty for which our fathers fought.
"And now, you would compound once more the errors into which you led our people. You think you are being strong, but you are only living in denial. You think the American people "don't understand" what you are doing (as you say in your speeches), but they do - on the contrary, it is you who has always lacked understanding of the all-too-predictable consequences of your actions.
"You have lost this war. You alone have made the sacrifice of over three thousand American men and women (and uncounted Iraqis), one that was made in vain. Your Creator knows this, and you will answer for it.
"And you will answer, moreover, for why, when you had the opportunity to finally repent, you did not."
UPDATE - the White House replies:
"On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence.
We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions.
The President is committed to continuing our economic progress,
defending our freedom, and upholding our Nation's deepest values.
"Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House

In order to better receive comments from the public, a new system

"Thank you again for taking the time to write."
In other words, I think they just deleted it without anybody even so much as looking. Mmm, smells like democracy!

Hot damn! I just looked at your etchings!

Your letter is perfect. I thinik the only way anyone in the white house would have read it would have been to write it in crayon. That is about the level of intelligent thought they can muster. The effort is worthy, even if the results weren't there.
