So, I went to see the beast today, and he's doing a lot better. His right pec is shaved and it's got a little loop of white fabric tube stitched in it, but surprisingly enough it doesn't seem to be bothering him. He's not particularly active, yet, but he's moving fluidly, as a cat should, and his coat is soft and glossy again (his fur was stiff and brittle, when his infection was raging). He sat on my lap and bathed himself, purring loudly, the whole time I was visiting, while Robyn and I had coffee and chatted. And Robyn made me give him his morning antibiotics - which wasn't so bad because they're liquid. He'll get his tube taken out later in the week.
And thanks again for everyone's support and kind advice. I appreciate it a lot.
