There's a Zen story where this one monk keeps getting hit on his head by the master, no matter what he does. His life is totally miserable, and he puts in a request to transfer to a monastery in the South. The master denies his request, and as the disappointed monk slouches off, another monk asks the master why he didn't agree to the transfer. "Because," the master replied, "if he went to the monastery in the South, he would become enlightened, and I would no longer be able to beat him."
I finally get that.
I finally get that.

Ah, it sounds like we're both getting an education. Apparently I've been with less informed "performers" in the past.... (And I'm saying that in more of an intrigued way than sarcastic or snide.) So, probably stinging.
