This week's question for SG homework was "what was your favorite set to shoot?" I have only done two so far and neither of them are in MR yet (the waiting is so hard, it's killing me!) but that doesn't mean I can't talk about them.
My favorite set to shoot was my second one that I shot on the 18th of this month with @skidtography. This was such a good experience. It was my first outdoor shoot and I had learned a lot from my first set that I wanted to take and make use of for this one.
We shot the set in the middle of this cool nature reserve in Spokane. It was super cold and our path down was covered by thick sheets of ice in parts so we were all but falling on our asses, trying to hold each other up and make it down without dying. We were actually heading out to check out this bridge but on the way, we spied this really cool tree that was covered in moss with another tree that had fallen so it was sticking out over the water. I can visualize it perfectly but it's so hard to describe...it just felt magical.
For the shoot, I was wearing a school girl uniform with these killer red heels. However, the ground where we were shooting was super marshy and my heels kept sinking into the ground. Needless to say, we ditched the heels pretty quickly. I am a bit of an adventurous soul so I was all about just climbing all over this tree and getting dirty. There were still a few patches snow on the ground and the wind kept blowing and the actual getting nude part was pretty uncomfortable with the weather. I ended up having most of my shots on top of the fallen tree over the water so there are a few amazing images of me lying on this tree with the water all around me. Before I climbed out on the tree, I took a stick to see how deep the water was. It was probably at least four feet or more, the water was deeper than my stick could measure. At one point, I put my hand in the water for a few shots and it was so cold that it started burning. When I took my hand out, it was bright red and was throbbing.
Even though it was 30-some degrees out and I was shivering throughout the shoot, it was one of the best days I can remember. I had so much fun just joking and talking with Jason and the pictures that he shot were so incredible. I am in awe of how it all turned out. I am really looking forward to seeing the complete and edited images and then to eventually share them with you all here in Member Review. I learned so much from this shoot and I feel so proud of what we accomplished together with this set.
