What a long and arduous week it has been. For those of you who haven't been following my twitter feed I was admitted into the Hospital after visiting the ER last Sunday morning. I arrived with a temperature of 104 degrees and had the shakes + nausea (which was later to be diagnosed as symptoms to a blood bacteria, a type of Strep, that I had gotten due to a compromised immune system).
They loaded me with Morphine and checked me into ICU.
Anyways... long story short: This is all due to the bad (cirrhotic) liver that I have. I technically have had a bad liver since birth, but didn't find out about the cirrhosis until I was about 24 years old. It was at that time I stopped drinking and preserved what I had left of my liver. Well, as we can tell today, my liver is on its last leg and I am now on the Liver Transplant list in hopes to receive a new and healthy alternative to the one I have now.
This will be a difficult road to travel, but in the end my health will be so much better then it has been in years.
So, after a week and a few days the FINALLY let me out of the hospital. Seriously, as much healing can go on there it really drained me. So many antibiotics, procedures, surgeries... the list is just too long to go into right now. I'm just glad to be out of there (though I still have to visit the clinic once a day for the next nine days to receive antibiotic infusions to fight off the virus).
Real quick there is just a short list of individuals I would like to thank for brightening my day and helping me to get through that hard time:
First and foremost I have to thank
kiwiprincess for basically saving my life. (Being a nurse, and working at the liver clinic) She rushed right over here the moment I called her with the fact that I had a fever; she is the one that forced me to go to the ER when I was thinking I could just take care of it myself. She is the reason I have the contacts with the best liver doctors in the area. She has looked after me this whole period of time and made sure that everything the other nurses were doing was suitable to her standards. Again, she really saved my life and for that I will be indebted to her forever.
And special thanks to:
Bob - for always tweeting me and making me feel "thought of" while sitting in that damn hospital room. She always had something to say and it made me feel like part of the community here in SF. Thanks Bobbers! That goes for you too
Sixsixty! You two freaking rock.
Posh and
Jaylin - For all of your concern and friendship. You guys wanted to come see me so bad and yet in my own embarrassment/uncomfortableness I shied away from having any real visitors. You guys were always concerned and wanted just to make sure I was ok and taken care of, in your own little way. You girls are amazing friends and I owe you big hugs next time I see you two.
ImperiusREX,
Xtine, and
Ridley for always making me laugh and smile with your twitter fiascos. You guys are great friends as well.
Koleeta,
ThrottleBitch,
Vegemite,
Atomicant, a bunch of SF friends, and tons more... you all gave me something to enjoy even if it was for a brief few minutes. It helped pass the time and kept a smile on my face.
So now its just a waiting game; waiting for that call to tell me they have a liver ready and waiting for me. I'll try to keep you all informed when that time comes about. But dont hold it against me if I don't have internet access while I'm stuck in the hospital next time.
Also. I'm glad to hear you are doing alright. I hope things pan out well for you health in the long run.
