Curse of the Golden Flower (Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia)
By acclaimed director Zhang Yimou of Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
Jin yu qi wai, bai xu qi zhong. "Gold and jade on the outside, rot and decay on the inside". This is an ancient chinese proverb that director Zhang Yimou uses to describe the story line of this film in its full glory. Now alot of you may not be big foreign film fans and some of you may even be the type that get angry when they see subtitles. But I still suggest going to see this film for the sheer beauty of getting to see the truly amazing asian cinematography that is so intertwined with the chinese cinema. And if you are a fan of the film Hero or House of Flying Daggers you will definetly enjoy this new film from the same acclaimed director. I won't say much more about this film but let the images, trailer, and filmsite guide your decision on taking a chance and opening up to foreign cinema (especially that of the asian persuasion lol). I absolutely love the work of Yimou and will definetly try to see this film opening week. Especially with such an amazing cast including asian film sensations such as Gong Li and Chow Yun-Fat (surprisingly the media still mispronounces his name which when spoken really sounds like Jaou Run Fa).
So check out the trailer (preferably again via the Apple Movie Trailer Website so you can experience the true color and audio of the film). I have also attached some stills from the film that capture the grand nature of the asian cinema as well as the amazing cinematography (the costumes as well, incredibly done in an epic fashion). Also via the Official Movie Website you can watch multiple "making of" featurettes which will give you a greater idea of the massiveness of these productions and the details that go into the design (example being the pillars made of crystal which were designed to glow from the inside for cinematic effect).
Enjoy:

And though the website design isn't absolutely breathtaking it still is clean and well done and definetly worth a look (especially at the "making of" featurettes):
Anways, on another note, I just got back from an early Christmas party which ended up being an absolute blast. It was a "White Elephant" gift party and the funny thing was that the prized gift to run off with that night was a 6 pack of Hamm's (the tall cans of course, lol) and a mixtape (well mix DVD) of porn. LOL, ahhh good times and all in good fun.
Talk to you all soon,
JP
ps, youre old. really really old. so old that you can rent a car.
efffff you.
