Those two things always seem to go hand in hand.
Hey Everyone! Sorry this will be short because I am still backed up with homework (the neverending battle continues) but I had to take a break and loosen the mind a bit so here I am. Also I appologise to all who have been trying to communicate regularly with me in the last few days, like I said before its been a busy weekend.
I had an absolutely great time in Seattle though I definetly know now that I don't want to move there at all... it just seems a little too industrial for me (well thats the way it looked from the places I was at). I don't mind visiting the rainy city but just think it might be a little out of the zone of what I am looking for; which leaves me with my two other big options of L.A. and San Francisco. I have a feeling that San Fran is going to win out in the end but we will see. Anyways, I thought I'd post a couple phone cam pics I took while the rain storms rolled in this week - its hard to really see how torrential the downpour was (phone cams never can pick up the motion of the rain with the speed they shoot at) beating down but you get the idea. Ahh good ol' Washington State and our rain... can't complain too much though, we do have absolutely beautiful greenery. Here are those pics:
Anyways, when the rain comes it always gets me interested in the "thinker" movies that are coming out for the winter season. Surprisingly not a huge bust of movie trailers have shown up but I have a few up my sleeve that I have been holding off on journaling about. And here is one...
Little Children
A Film by Tom Field - acclaimed director of In the Bedroom
This film looks beautifully done inside and out. One of the first rules of good design is "less is more" and you can definitely see this played out not only in the trailer for this film but the cinematography, poster and web design. The visuals that you do get are minimalistic yet vibrant and captivating - almost haunting. The trailer carries out this sense in its amazing sound design as you here a haunting echo of a train horn pulling closer and closer as the trailer progresses through its shots. Absolutely was well thought out and played right on their part. The film also includes a superb list of actors and actresses include Kate Winslet, Jennifer Connelly, and a new favorite of mine Patrick Wilson (played Jack Kohlver in Hard Candy). The plot outline is as follows (taken from the website): Little Children centers on a group of young marrieds, whose lives intersect on the playgrounds, town pools and streets of their small community in surprising and potentially dangerous ways.
Hopefully I will get a chance to see this... I believe its already out in theaters in limited release but I am pretty sure my local art house movie theater is playing it. Here is some of the design work as well as the trailer for you to check out.
Photographic Styling for the film and stills.

(uhmm... PS - This didn't end up short at all)
