Pan's Labyrinth (Laberinto del Fauno, El)
by award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro
OK, its been a day since my last post and as I stated before I wanted to tout another film that I think majority of you might fall in love with as much as I have so far. Once again this film touches on my Designer's side with its astonishing cinematography as well as poster design and web design. The images brought to us as a glimpse into the film are absolutely captivating and equally portray the beauty of fable and a twist of horror. Here is a brief description taken from the website for you all who don't know what Pan's Labyrinth is:
Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro delivers a unique, richly imagined epic with PAN'S LABYRINTH, a gothic fairytale set against the postwar repression of Franco's Spain. Harnessing the formal characteristics of classic folklore to a 20th Century landscape, del Toro delivers a timeless tale of good and evil, bravery and sacrifice, love and loss.
This is another website I urge you to just take a moment to browse through; the transitions, design, and feeling brought to the viewer are remarkably motivated by the essence of the film and create a unique experience in itself. But then again, thats coming from a web geek so some of it may just pass beyond what is normally noticed.
Anyways the story behind this film is of course one that has been written for a long time now. The retelling within this film is suppose to be superb and interwoven with beatiful and subtle special effects. I have heard nothing but great things from critics about this film and I will defenitely being seeing this in the theater.
