DAMN, AM I GLAD TO HAVE TWO ASS-KICKING WOMEN IN THE TWO SENATE SEATS FROM THE STATE OF WASHINGTON!!!!! If I had my way, every state in the union would copy Washington's lead and tell the boys, 'You're Fired!', let the women lead, you guys turn on 'Sport Center', crack a beer, and let us make the important decisions for America.....
This is a response from Senator Murray I'd like to share...
"Thank you for writing to me to express your priorities for fiscal year 2011 appropriations funding. It was good to hear from you.
"As you may know, at the end of last year, Senate Republicans blocked the fiscal year 2011 spending bill that would have funded the federal government and invested in local priorities. This bill was crafted in a bipartisan manner and was cut down to $29 billion below the budget proposed by President Obama. Because this legislation was blocked, Congress was forced to pass a series of short-term continuing resolutions for the federal government to remain open. And many critical local projects that support families and communities and help get our workers back on the job have been put on hold and are at risk of being eliminated.
"I am extremely disappointed that Senate Republicans are playing politics with this budget. Their refusal to pass the funding for the rest of the fiscal year means that education for children, housing assistance for homeless veterans, loans for disadvantaged students, and badly needed investments for senior citizens, have all been put at risk. Their actions hurt Washington state veterans, law enforcement agencies, and hindered our ability to continue to support job training and recovery efforts. At a time when we can least afford it, this action threatens job creation in communities all throughout the country.
"I believe that we need to work together to cut spending and bring down the debt responsibly. Congress owes it to our children and grandchildren to not burden them with unsustainable debt. But I will not allow those cuts to be made on the backs of middle class families and small businesses owners in Washington state. I also feel very strongly that our budget should invest in America's futurein areas like education, innovation, and infrastructureand protect our fragile economic recovery.
"Therefore, as we work to fund the government for the remainder of the fiscal year, I will be working with my fellow Senators to ensure our federal budget supports our workers and economy, invests in our nation, protects middle class families, and make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely. As we complete this process, I will certainly keep your funding priorities in mind.
"If you would like to know more about my work in the Senate, please feel free to sign up for my weekly updates at http://murray.senate.gov/updates. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me."
Sincerely,
Patty Murray
