compassion
it means we care
about the sick
and those that fear.

the death still looms
to take them down
when doctor's care
cannot be found...

the money's gone,
though insured they were,
when excess costs
made bankruptcy near...

the senators are bought
and paid for with dollars,
that taxpayers spent
with no one to holler:

"you steal our health,
you stop our care,
'cause only the profits
you feel you must snare!"

christians must ponder,
"what would jesus do?"
when the answer is clear,
care for the sick,
the poor,
the homeless,
live simply and
do not steal
do not lie
do not kill...

senators, representatives,
lobbyists...
take note
democracy reigns
when people speak out.

and people they vote,
and people they care,
when only for business,
and not for them,
you move the law to
save the rich, the big and powerful...
and charge the common citizen
outrageous prices for
not only vices,
but what they need,
to stay alive...
their shelter,
their food,
their energy,
their health care.

stand proud,
speak out,
defend the weak...
and
it
will
all
work
out......

faith, hope...
both are free,
though hard to keep
with trying times,
the better part
of human nature
will win in the end,
and we will make it
into the future,
a better race
a better people,
a better unted states of america.
