Well, our CEO flew in yesterday to talk to us about our having to stay the extra week. After thanking us for a good well done and explaining the whys and hows of the situation, he began taking questions. It seemed it wasn't long before they started getting a little too intense and heated for him.
"I'm gonna go ahead and make an executive decision. Each day that you're here past the 8th, you'll earn double time."
This put smiles on our faces.
Without getting too deep into the math, that's $4336 for 7 days (only 5 is actually spent working). Surprisingly, it turns out this is even better than the typical bonus for staying back a week.
Now, part of me still wants to get outta here on the 8th. In part so that I won't have to miss out on my plans. But mainly because as of yesterday, I have paperwork to fill out to start working my next contract. And the sooner I get it all filled out, the sooner I get a class date, the sooner I actually get hired, and the sooner I start getting a pay check. Plus I REALLY want to make it back for my tattoo appointment!
But I talked to the CEO again after the big meeting. According to him though, while I can leave whenever I want, I'll be forfeiting the end of contract bonus since if I do. His reasoning? As I'm not seeing the contract out it to the bitter end, which is now the 15th, I don't get the bonus. Even though we've been told for quite a while now that our obligations end on the 8th.
So... Leave a week early? Or stay the week and receive a total of $17,942.45?
I think I'll stay the extra week...
