I've finally recouped from the weekend. I had a lot of sleep to catch up on...
First off, the quote of the weekend comes from my friend Rob just after midnight NYE who said, "At least someone's balls dropped". Now, I was way too drunk to remember the context, but trust me, it was hilarious at the time.
This NYE was the first I've spent in the US in 8 years. 8 YEARS! I had to break my tradition of spending it in a new country as money's been tight. So naturally we had to do it up big!
We began celebrating at Ashley's place by breaking in her new hookah and cracking open the bottle of tequila I got for Christmas... both were very tasty!
Some of the pictures required editing, of course. But this one was the most fun to so with:
...only because I just had to post it on Facebook!
After the last couple stragglers arrived and had a shot, the 10 of us piled into a cab and headed downtown.
After the cabbie dropped us of we headed to Ivy, where we stayed to ring in the new year.
I'm gonna go ahead and say that this was about the point that my memory started getting hazy... Thank God for photographic evidence.
Then came the shots at midnight...
After we rang in the new year, some of us started to take off. Eventually it was just the three of us guys and we decided to meet Kerry and James, who couldn't get into the Ivy without being properly dress, at Chicago Pizza at The Jacksonville Landing. I don't remember making the transition....
Cops were out in force!
PHOTO BOMBERS! Thug ones at that...
We continued to thin our ranks until I was the only one still out and about. God only knows what time it was by then... Scratch that, this photo was taken at 3:11am:
A self pic as I started the journey back to Ash's... on foot! See, I didn't feel like paying of a cab and I tend to do some crazy shit when really drunk!
I have no idea what route I took, but I mapped the quickest route by foot later, which was 9 miles. Now, I eventually made my way into Ashley's apartment thought the patio door and collapsed on the floor at 8:11am precisely. So I certainly didn't take the most efficient way back. The guys were on the couch and tell me I began to snore as soon as my head hit the pillow they gave me.
We were up a little after 11am and went to brunch at Wild Wing Cafe... I had the bottomless mimosa! At 3pm, I finally went home! But not to get sleep. No, I still didn't call it quits until 1am on the 2nd!
End shenanigans... For now.
