First, the quote of the weekend:
"My 18 year old daughter is into you."
And that was just Friday...
The quote comes from the 18yo's mother that I met while at "The Big Ticket", pretty much an annual concert put on by a local radio station. About 16 bands were performed including A Day to Remember, Chevelle, Switchfoot, and for some reason it was headlined by The Black Keys.
I took the boat to the concert again this year after much consideration regarding weather, cost, and just how many friends would join me onboard. Since the event was held right on the river, taking the boat to tailgate on and having a place to crash on after a day full of drinking was great.
The marina I docked at has a gate right next to it leading to the park, which was locked, and a fire station right next to the gate. Meaning we had to walked around the long way, not a big deal. However, by the time the sun went down and I had several drinks in me I decided to jump the fence, go back to the boat, and get myself something warmer to wear. Now keep in mind that re-entry after leaving the park was not allowed, so I was taking a gamble on not being able to rejoin friends if caught. But there was no one in sight when I jumped the gate on the way out. When I got to the boat I added a layer of clothes as well as picked up one of the many bottles of booze onboard and took a couple swills of Jack Daniels.
On way way back to the gate though to let myself back in, there were now three firefighters just chilling next to their station. I took another gamble and walked straight up to the tree of 'em and slurred something to the effect of...
"Hey fellas! I'm going to be honest, I have every intention of jumping that fence to go BACK to the concert after running to my boat to get something warm to wear. And I've got my ticket right here if you need to see it."
To which one of them replied, "No, we can't just let you do that when we're present."
"Oh, is that [insert JSO officer's name I can't remember] pulling into the Marina." said another.
"Sure is". And the three walked down to the dock and took a good long look in the opposite direction. I took the hint and went back into the park.
Those were some cool dudes...
With that, I leave you with a picture of the Duval County Jail as seen from a condo construction site across the street...

Yeah, they're great. And they were second to last to play so we left after and listened to The Black Keys from the boat.
